We should take the recommendations which support our opposition and use them as a wedge against the White House. It's not as important that the issues discussed in the report are old news. The document's visibility will broaden understanding in the public of the issues surrounding the catastrophe and heighten their expectations for action. Politically, the report is an opportunity for our party to isolate Bush and the republicans in their stay the course response to the recommendations.
The public voted for a way out of Iraq, not a "way forward." That's how our party should interpret the report's conclusions. There should also be an effort to hold the White House to a comprehensive acceptance of the remedies which lead to an exit from Iraq; not a piecemeal, self-serving, cherry-picking of conclusions which support continuing Bush's endless occupation.
