5 p.m.: Will the United States eventually have to talk to Iran?

7 p.m.: Should President Bush give outgoing Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

1. I don't think one is salvageable Jack...

Bush needs to resign.

2. Answers
4 - quit, the only possible way for him to salvage anything
5 - yes, actually a brilliant idea
6 - No, I would recommend the Freedom Union Commendation with Cluster, commonly known as the Cluster FUC. Much more appropriate relative to one Mr Rumsfeld.

5. God, I love your third answer. Truly appropriate.
My answer to the first question would be: give the job to the man who was REALLY elected in 2000. It was never his job, anyway.

7. Back in my wily CPO days
I talked one of our Ensigns into asking our Department Head (A Captain) to put us in for the Fleet Unit Commendation with Cluster (No such award exists) but it pays dividends to throw the boss a funny bone every now and then. The Captain played along for a little while.

8. I know it's not real, but it's still hilarious.
I hope he reads it - you did send it, didn't you? It deserves to be read on air. Thanks for a much needed laugh.

14. An Admin Chief on a Carrier
(I never served on a carrier) told me that he'd send the brand spanking new fresh from bootcamp Seaman Recruit to supply to pick up a gross of carriage returns. A quick call to the supply chief resulted in a day full of jocularity.

6. Q #1

Go right now to Camp David. Lock yourself up in a windowless room. And never, NEVER, stand in front of a camera or microphone again.

9. Oh geesh! I bet Jack gets a LOT of responses that say RESIGN!
I sent a response to his first question before even signing on to DU, andI said the only way he san salvage the rest of his Presidency is to resign NOW. That way he can't screw up anything else!

11. 4 pm
"There isn't any way the current leaders at the White House will ever be able to admit their mistakes. America and our soldiers cannot afford anymore delays.

The President and his Vice President have to resign, if America is to have even a chance of success in Iraq."

12. My answer to #1. Fire Cheney, appoint Gore VP, and then resign
We can't get into a time machine but this would be justice. I also suggested that if it wasn't Gore that maybe Colin Powell, a man whose reputation was irreparably damaged by association with Bush would suffice.
