Did anyone see the where the congress in the house were asking for...
a severance package for the people who worked for senators who lost in the election...The package was for the GOP and they were whining about how they were out of work and had bills to pay and they wanted the set up a special bill for them to receive compensation. Those who were for the bill said that this was wrong because this is the holiday season... I think these are the same people who didn't want to give compensation to the american public who have lost jobs...Someone who may have seen it also, may be able to explain it better than I.... These people are now seeing how others feel when they don't give a damn... They said that it would cost 10 million dollars...

1. Do you have a link or
other reference point. I thought they could do no more to disgust me, but if this is true they've done it again!

2. It was last night about 11pm...
they were arguing back and forth about why did they come up with this at that late hour. Some of the dems were for it from what I could see. I didn't see it from the beginning so I don't know who brought up the bill.

Some repug said he came across the street to speak on it because he said that they should think about what we would be thinking about it. Some spoke against it because it would be giving special priviledges, some said they knew about it so they should be looking for a job, others said did they realize how hard it would be to find work. Some said some of them would not be able to pay their mortages on their house etc...It was a very heated argument. I believe that you can find it on c-span.org.

3. I saw it and was flabbergasted.
The aides were whining and demanding that they receive unemployment compensation. I think there was also some question about their future retirement.

Don't have a link, but, since they were republican whiners, they'll probably get what they want.

My take-if you don't like the job conditions, don't take the job.

6. Crap! Pelosi put it forward??
"Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has drafted legislation that would grant soon-to-be-unemployed Republicans severance pay while they look for jobs after Democrats take over control of the chamber on Jan. 4, according to a senior Democratic aide."

snip

"“She doesn’t want to be the Grinch who stole Christmas,” said the Democrat, conjuring the thought of former GOP aides worrying about their next paycheck during the holidays."

8. seems reasonable
These aides are unemployed now and for the most part weren't exactly raking in the cash to begin with. Denying someone unemployment benefits because we don't like their politics sounds like a Republican thing to do.

And $10 million is barely a blip in the federal budget.

12. but they don't lose their jobs until after the holiday season
Since the US is in debt can't we just declare bankruptcy? It worked for the airlines when they didn't want to pay various employee benefits, right?
