Just what punishment will the Dem leadership have for New Orleans |
|
for re-electing a Congressman that hasn't even been indicted for anything let alone convicted of anything. Listening to some of the comments sounds like a drunken father wrongly scolding a child. Do they think because New Orleans is getting federal money for rebuilding they have the right to order people to vote for a certain candidate?

1. Well they can't render as much of punishment as DC got |
|
for reelecting Barry mayor in the 1990s. People in D.C. still don't have representation in Congress. A fact many people forget.

6. Congress actually took away much of DC's home rule powers |
|
Granted, the city was a financial mess, and the Constitution gives Congress the power to run the district.

2. None, but Jefferson will be expelled from the House after he's indicted. |

They usually don't expell until after the conviction. That is what was done with Trafficant.

Punishing New Orleans for Dollar Bill's sins is exactly what the Dems do NOT need to do. One of the key things many of us expect the Dems to do, now that the grownups are back in charge :P , is to get Congress off its collective duff and get some serious rebuilding going, not only in New Orleans, but along the Mississippi coast as well.
Plus, Jefferson won mostly by racking up huge vote totals in the portions of the 2nd CD that lie outside New Orleans, mostly on the West Bank of Jefferson Parish (no relation), where his New Orleans-based opponent was largely unknown.

I think Hurricane Katrina is what woke most Americans up to the fact Du(m)bya was asleep at the wheel.
Congress has multiple reasons to impeach/censure/investigate this administration.

9. The film of Jefferson taking money for favors was enough. |

If you're unconvinced, so be it.
We should be quicker to flush those with their hands in the cookie jar.
