DOES THIS MEAN REPUBLICAN LEADERS HAVE CONSCIENCES AFTER ALL?

Speaker Hastert Announces Page Program Tip Line Number

Outgoing House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert today announced an official Page tip line number.

According to Hastart, “As the Speaker I take responsibility for everything in the building. The buck stops here. The safety and security of the students in the Page program is imperative."

Hastert goes on to offer, “That is why I directed the Clerk of the House to establish a hotline for reporting any information concerning Pages or the Page program. As of this morning, the Clerk of the House has activated the tip-line. It is for anyone with information regarding the Foley matter. This number can also be used to report any other concerns regarding the Page program."

On October 3, 2006, during a CNN broadcast, Hastert acted shocked, while insisting on a full investigation of a member of his own party, resulting from sexually explicit e-mails from former representative Mark Foley (R-Fla.) to a 16-year-old male page.

According to previous Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) Hastert was notified early this year of inappropriate e-mails from Foley to the child, contradicting the speaker's assertions that he learned of concerns about Foley at a much later date.

In an October 1, 2006 article of The Washington Post Boehner claims Hastert knew of "inappropriate contact" between Foley and the young page since last spring.

Hastert did not dispute the claims of Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds (R-N.Y.), and his office confirmed that some of Hastert's top aides knew last year that Foley had been ordered to cease contact with the boy and to treat all pages respectfully.

On not only CNN but also other news programs, back when media briefly focused on the Foley Scandal, announcers sang in unison that actions by Foley are surprisingly not criminal. Is CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR, no longer a crime?

Whether it be Goddess or concept,
if Justice lives, let Her speak now.
Symbolically, Alberto Gonzales dares
cover her bosom, as if to appear moral.
Let Her raise sword with voice to expose
Her naked beauty to the world once more.
Let Her scales again weigh all evidence,
without shameful influence or partiality.
Let Her render verdict without mercy or
scorn. Justice delayed is Justice denied.
Let Justice sing!

1. Hastert Said He Has Named Jeff Gannon to handle the "Hot Tip" Program
Edited on Sat Dec-16-06 10:14 AM by SpiralHawk
pResident George AWOL Bush heartily endorsed Hastert's move, saying "I know Jeffy intimately, and I can therefore promise the American people that every 'Hot Tip' will be given deluxe handling by the leaders of the republicon party.

"We republicons have a track record with this kind of deviancy," pResident Bush said, "so the American people can depend on us to perform up to our usual standards of 'republicon family values.'"

4. "Hot Tip"??? When is a tip hot?...
They sure gave formal memos detailing the whole sordid affair "deluxe attention." Is this another way of saying, "STAY THE COURSE?"

2. Current Clerk of the House
Karen Lehman Haas, a native of Catonsville, Maryland, was appointed the thirty-fourth Clerk in December 2005. She is only the second woman in history to hold this position. As Clerk, Ms. Haas plays a central role in the daily operation and legislative activities of the House.

Ms. Haas began her service on Capitol Hill in 1984 when she worked for then-Minority Leader Robert H. Michel. For almost 11 years she served as Leader Michel’s Executive Legislative Assistant. Following a brief leave to work in the private sector, Ms. Haas returned to Capitol Hill in June of 1999 to serve as Floor Assistant to Speaker J. Dennis Hastert. In this capacity, she coordinated the daily floor activity, including the appointment of presiding officers and activities relative to the Speaker’s chair. During her tenure with the Speaker she also served as Staff Director of the Steering Committee.

Why do I have little trust with this person?

7. hmm, let me think...
Could it be this? Following a brief leave to work in the private sector, Ms. Haas returned to Capitol Hill in June of 1999 to serve as Floor Assistant to Speaker J. Dennis Hastert. In this capacity, she coordinated the daily floor activity, including the appointment of presiding officers and activities relative to the Speaker’s chair. I wonder about that "private sector" part. Do you have more info, LiberalFighter?

3. Hastert should become a member of FEMA's rapid response team
He would had had Katrina evacuated in a heartbeat.

It would had only taken til the next century get the people out of there.

17. I don't know about that L-fighter... I kinda see him heading up HOMELAND SECURITY...
He's really got what it takes fix things for the Bushist-Brown-Shirt Brigade. Do you remember when a Florida Sheriff Deputy caught that Top Administrator at HOMELAND SECURITY in an online sting operation, soliciting sex from a 14 year old girl? What became of him?

5. No fricking way does this mean they have conscience at all. This is the way they will
plug any leaks. Any calls will be duly followed up and bullied into shutting the hell up. If they want a tip line, have the victims call law enforcement, not some insider phone line that goes directly to the dept that is harboring the bad guys in the first place.

You know things like, they will still support Bush, if TV shows him actually "eating babies."
The good news:

House Page Board

Consists of:
3 House members

Does anyone else think both the House Sergeant At Arms

10. no and i don't think bush should be impeached...
I want ALL of them tried in criminal courts, while wearing full-trappings of their office and party. Bush and Cheney deserve special attention in International Courts for CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.

8. Better remedy is to have federal law protecting House Pages
Making sure that it is also a federal crime for making false accusations.

House Democrats should make that the first bill they pass.

and the idea is ominous to ponder. All of this is like the shrub taking HEAVY control of ALL National Guard units in America, after the last hurricane season ended.
