Why Did Cheney Administer the Oath of Office to Gates instead of Bush?
Or at least a member of the Supreme Court?

I just heard it on Air America news

Where was Bush?

1. Does it really matter?
He, like all the others, doesn't mean it anyway.

2. IIRC, you can request anyone to administer
the oath at that level, it does not have to be any specific person.

5. Strange that he wouldn't, but he doesn't have to.
IIRC even a notary public could swear in any federal officer.

8. What? This is bizarre
Espaecially knowing how much Dick must *hate* this guy.

After all, he's taking his old boss's job AND he's from a different "clan" than Cheney and Rummy.

I heard this was a slap in the face to Cheney.

17. Because the Senate confirms cabinet positions
and Cheney, as VP, is the President of the senate? That's my guess.
