Powell just makes me angry. The time for him to have spoken up |
|
was before he went to the UN and lied his ass off. He should have resigned then in protest and told the public why. His speaking out now does little given the number of deaths that have resulted from his complicity in initiating this fiasco in Iraq.

1. Agreed, agreed, agreed... |
|
...he should have cared more about his soul and less about the "commander in chief"

4. He's certainly in CoverHisOwnAss mode. He's scared of history books at this point. |
|
I guess he thought people wouldn't find out how BFEE again used him and treated him like the asswipe THEY think he is.

5. Agreed, he should have done what Cy Vance did in 1980 |
|
when he objected to President Carter's attempt to free the hostages, he resigned in protest.

6. And might I add, he should have taken his sorry excuse for a son with him |
|
before he trashed the FCC and sold out the nation's communications system further.

I still maintain that Powell was only what people projected on him and what the media fed back to us. The need for a hero and someone with ethics and moral fortitude was the concoction of people looking for a hero - nothing else.
He has covered his ass for himself and his son's career. I suspect his latest "espousements" were for the purpose of positioning his son outside the Bush/neocon failure and into the new and improved repub party.

Powell has as much blood on his hands as the rest of the criminals.
He had a chance to do the right thing and instead he chose to strap on the golden knee pads.
Sorry Powell...you had your chance and you decided that lying for the neo-cons was more important.
I can't even stand to watch that douche bag.

11. I think he might have really wanted to take his time and sort through things in his own mind |
|
Like, was he played for a fool and used by the GOP? Maybe with the help of his wife and family he now realizes that the answer to both questions are yes, and now he's speaking out.
This will be an extremely unpopular opinion but I've never thought of Mr. Powell as the freeper type. I saw his frank talk about HIV/AIDS/Condom use and I was impressed. I can't help but retrieve my respect for him, now that he has finally come forward.

12. I'd like to see Powell stand charges for his role |
|
I'd like to see Ashcroft stand charges as well.
Powell isn't a good guy. He isn't honorable. He doesn't have integrity. He's just as corrupt - just as guilty - as anyone else in the Bush administration.
Powell willingly allowed himself to be the face of honesty and trust for the Bush administration. That was his main role - the public face for criminal policy. Using the (much manufactured) publics perception of Powell as honest, Powell went before the UN and lied.
And considering Powell's longtime connection with the Bush family, no one should have been surprised by his actions.
