Is it true that ex-VP Nelson Rockefeller died having sex with his mistress?
I was just reading an internet profile of "Rocky" and it states that there is some speculation that his "research assistant" who got a townhouse and $50,000 cash in his will, was not "at his side" when he died, but rather was pinned under him. (Gulp) Apparently she didn't call for an ambulance, but called a girlfriend who came over, and it was finally she who called for an ambulance--an hour later, Rockefeller died on his way to the hospital. Had she called right away, would he have lived?

I didn't think Republicans did that sort of thing?

1. Nelson Rockefeller was not your typical republican
He was a liberal Republican. That breed is now extinct but it was fairly common in the Northeast in the sixties.
He was governor of many, many years. He left only to become the VP to Ford.
I never knew the details such as the mistress calling her friend rather than an ambulance. He probably was having an affair. His wife, Happy Rockefeller, just turned a blind eye to it.

3. He Was A "Playa" And I Believe The Story Is True
I remember my professor at the time who happened to be a Republican slyly say he died "working."

How did Rocky get into this?

http://www.ishipress.com/marshak.htm

I had a friend at the time who had lots of good hill gossip. she worked for National Council on Aging, and had lots of fun contacts.

she told me about this the day after it happened, and also had some stories about Liz Taylor's predilection for men like John Warner, and his peculiarly overwhelming endowments, if you get my drift

BTW, the above link is very very close to what I was told, except for the more intimate details. my friend was always pretty on target with her gossip

Tanya B, I salute you.

6. most fun part: Happy wasn't too happy that day
''What I thought was the greatest irony about this was that the Rockefeller family was so anxious to cover up this story that they had his body cremated almost before it got cold. Nelson Rockefeller痴 body was cremated only 18 hours after he was pronounced dead, because Happy Rockefeller, his proper wife, did not want the Medical Examiner痴 Office to examine his body for evidence for sexual ejaculation.''

It's rumored they were in bed for three days on their honeymoon... Gotta give it up to him....

She wasn't the Elizabeth Taylor of Hot Tin Roof when they married sbut she still looked good...

9. I remember that story
The story is true but the media didn't hype it out of proportion like they do now. Rockfeller was an ex-VP not a current office holder, so it wasn't that big of deal. Plus, I would imagine the Rockfeller family had enough contacts in the media to get the story downplayed in the media.

Now if something like that happen today, we would never hear the end of it. With 24 hour cable news and the Internet, a story like that would go on forever.
