"He's the Commander-in-Chief...He can do whatever he wants..." |

Where does this bullshit come from? I heard some "liberal" say something very similar on the Tucker show earlier. When did this revision of our Constitution take place? And the present occupant of the White House seems intent on stretching this myth to the limit. Our Constitution never intended for any one person to have such power. They wanted to form a government far removed from kings and monarchies. They wanted as much power as possible in the hands of the people. We, the People.

1. Apparently it stems from a great misunderstanding: |
|
that of how an employer/employee relationship works.

2. No, he can't do whatever he wants, and I have NO IDEA |
|
why so many people think he can.
What's that they say about "absolute power"?

8. do most people NOT understand the difference between "commander in chief" of the MILITARY |
|
and the fact that that particular title has NO relevance to the civilian population?
cripes, even when I was a military family member, the C-i-C had nothing to do with ME. as I used to love pointing out to military people, as a civilian, I outranked them all.

10. Good question. I'd have to slap someone for saying that. |
|
Hey, I can do whatever I want too. Right? Monkey see, monkey do?
If George makes bad decisions (like since day one) as head of the military, then chances are he can be held responsible for his orders. Seems a pretty simple notion. It might be Congress that declares war, but the last 'conflicts' we've been in were called forth by the Executive branch.
Maybe it is time Congress gets back to being responsible for how our military is used? The IWR can always be changed.

11. The asshole is not my "Commander-in-Chief." I'm not in the |
|
armed services.
His powers are limited by the United States Constitution, or were before the fools in Congress passed the so-called "Patriot Act" and other legislation attempting to strip American citizens of their historic RIGHTS.
