1. As a Londoner, I can happily confirm that! |
|
It's as cold as **** in the capital but truly, breathtakingly beautiful right now. The fog gives everything and eerie, timeless quality. Street noise is dulled. It's oddly comforting.

Although, judging from that amazing last picture, if you're stuck ABOVE Heathrow the view makes it worthwhile! :wow:

landing in that fog. From my distance it's gorgeous.:D We have a lot of fog here in the hilly areas around rivers but not near our airports.

14. I got out just before things went to hell at Heathrow. |
|
The fog on the way down to Heathrow on the coach was amazing, though. Can't say I remember what it looked like from above, as I was in deep sleep at that point, working off the brain fog from the previous evening's christmas party.

15. As I was saying in another thread, fog in London in winter is normal. |
|
BUT that said, it has been unseasonably warm until last week, and there was a tornado last week as well - THAT is abnormal!

11. break out the Charles Dickens |
|
looks like what he was describing in "A Christmas Carol" (well, sans some coal smog).
We get our share of fog here in "sunny" California. A Belgian friend nearly froze to death while visiting us one July... the Bay Area fog rolled in and he was not ready for it. And the valleys get tule fog- otherwise known as ground fog... and the multi-car pile ups that ensue.
