A thought on Bush's dismantling of civil rights/right to privacy...
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 11:30 AM by KansDem
It is known that Bush is secretly tapping the phones and emails of "persons of interest" without court-ordered warrants, under the guise of "fighting terrorists." We know he's extended this intrusion into the lives or ordinary Americans and suspect he's eavesdropping on political opponents and progressive groups. But what if he's allowing the NSA to funnel information to corporate cronies? What if he's using the US spy agencies as a clearinghouse for information beneficial to his "friends" in big business? Let's say a CEO "supporter" comes to him and says, "George, I want to buyout xyz, Inc. and I need all the information I can get prior to our negotiations with them. Get this for me!" Could Bush order the NSA to tap the phones and email of xyz, Inc. and pass that info/intel on to his corporate master? In essence, using US agencies for corporate espionage?

Any thoughts on this?

1. Honey,.. Big business has been data-mining
us for decades. Our habits and purchases are catalogued, inspected, reflected upon, sold and resold to anyone who ponies up. . .including Unca Sam's boys.

2. Data-mining is one thing...
Sure, my buying habits are recorded so I could be targeted for specific promos, but what about the inside calls from a CEO to his second-tier executives about a hostile takeover, government bid, or new-product line? Or deals with a foreign country? THAT would be pure gold to Bush's pals! And it would be done with billions of $$$ in state-of-the-art spying technology and expertise.
