Kinda Creepy FR Christmas Post
Edited on Mon Dec-25-06 05:00 AM by K8-EEE
LOL, am I the only one a bit spooked by this Xmas greeting in German on FR, complete with a nativity scene where baby Jesus every person and angel in it is depicted as uber-blond (newsflash Freepers: this whole thing took place in the Middle East FYI!) Kinda Nazi-esque, just sayin....and nobody in the "English only" freeper crowd seems to mind a bilingual greeting as long as the other language is German!

Wassup with people approaching the manger, they look like they are decked out in Alpine gear or something!

1. "Lift thine ass-colts from the mire"
Truer words were never posted at FR.

And is that Gandalf the Grey come to praise the baby Jesus?

24. Send Aryan and Scandinavian conservatives and Republicans back to Eurupppp !!
Edited on Mon Dec-25-06 11:55 AM by liberaldemocrat7
Send Grover Norquist and Frank Luntz first ! Let the freepers follow !

Oh and very ironic the first greeting appears in FRENCH, which they appear to hate. I want to remind freepers that the French you so hate has a conservative president and a conservative led assembly.

But they appear to want to blame Liberals for the French conservative government for some reason. That shows you freeper logic. LOL.

2. Obviously you are one of those whacked out Christmas hating anti-Christians
who believe Jesus was Jewish and not of Aryan blood.

on a serious note: It's the freak republikkanners. It's the main website for the Aryan brotherhood and the inbreed society of America.

8. Here's a way creepier post!!!
On another thread:

"Alright..... after seeing the first fifteen minutes of FoxNews Sunday ............. here is my Christmas message to all you Freepers who are on FreeRepublic for what I suppose is the same reason I am here.

Lynne Cheney should definitely be the next President of the United States of America.

This woman, without a pause at all, looks anyone asking her a question directly in the eyes and tells the beautiful truth without hesitation.

This woman is the best candidate the Republicans could place up for the Presidency in 2008.

This lovely, decent and honorably honest woman is the BEST spokesman for conservatism. There is no one better. She is a gem of a human being and a brilliantly intelligent spokesman of conservatism and the truth!"

Holy shit, what are they smoking over there?

14. And Santa Claus was born in Turkey!
I get a kick out of pointing out to Euro-centric Christians that St. Nicholas, the Bishop of Myra, was born in what is now modern Turkey. So he probably wasn't some fat German-looking guy with blue eyes.

16. We can't dispense with this one day a year??
It was lovely, especially because it's at FR. It's a traditional ethnic scene, with Merry Christmas in several languages, which I would think should be encouraged. The Christmas tradition comes from Europe, after all.

18. .
Agreed. Even if one disagrees with the picture, there is nothing creepy in wishing a Merry Christmas in different languages one might know.

22. In the last years of Nazi Germany
Many Christian traditions had been Aryanized...that is turned so that all roads led back to Berlin.

The Parsifal myth and Christ had been melded together, so that Jesus and Parsifal were one and the same.

Nazareth was changed to Austria

Bibles hadn't been rewritten, but there were plans to come up with a German Aryanized Bible.

Ironic, since the Christians and Catholics were the first to jump on the Nazi bandwagon.

23. Not much makes me madder than a white Jesus.
Seriously--Jesus, Mary, Joseph--none of them was white. There is a reason why in the older icons of the Church, Jesus is dark-skinned. That's because that's what his skin color was. I searched last year for a creche that wasn't full of white people, even though we're Eastern Orthodox and don't do creches (I got it for the kids for them to learn the story better), and I couldn't find one. I even went to Bronner's in Frankenmuth, searched the entire section, and all I could find were super-white saints or coal-black saints (neither of which are authentic, though the darker skin tones are closer to the truth). I gave up this year and got a Playmobile set. I also made sure the kids knew the skin color wasn't right.

Gah! Why do they keep trying to make Jesus white?!

26. Meh. Doesn't bother me
It looks like a scan of a fairly old/traditional image that's likely rather older than I am. That, and Christmas is a big deal with Germany (which isn't synonymous with Nazi Germany, which kind of committed suttee on Hitler's pyre awhile back), etc. I'm entirely unbothered by it, and yes, I know Christ was most likely Semitic.

I know, I know, absolutely everything said on that site has to be parsed through the Evil Filter, but I kind of think you're reaching to get offended at this one. (If you wanted to get offended, the "Kwaanza Kleenex" post later in that thread would do just fine.)

30. I saw a kid's drawing which kinda bothered me at the time..
Our concert choir was singing European Christmas carols and schoolchildren's Christmas drawings were being projected behind us.

One of them was a manger scene...with an American flag flying from the stable.
