ARG polls of Democratic sentiment in IA, NV, NH, and SC |
|
Right now (and it's early) the race is between Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards according to these early polls by American Research Group:
Iowa Clinton 31 Edwards 20 Vilsack 17 Obama 10 Kucinich 5 Undecided 8 all other 2% or less
Nevada Clinton 37 Obama 12 Kerry 9 Edwards 8 Undecided 23 Clark 4 All others 3 and under
South Carolina Clinton 34 Edwards 31 Obama 10 Undecided 15 others 3% or less
New Hampshire Clinton 27 Obama 21 Edwards 18 Kerry 6 Kucinich 4 Undecided 17 others 2% or less
www.americanresearchgroup.com
Clinton is leading in all states, but her margins are not all that impressive. Given her name recognition she isn't pulling higher than 37% and both Obama and Edwards are competitive with her in NH, and Edwards is competitve with her in SC. Of course it's very early and lots will happen.

1. Hmm, wonder if they'll do any polling soon |
|
With only the candidates who have actually announced

3. Vilsack has been running since Dec. 9th |
|
Edwards just got into the race.
Neither Clinton nor Obama have made a final decision.
What does that say about a Vilsack nomination???

4. It says that if he can't get higher than third in Iowa he's finished |

6. While I generally agree, Hillary's name recognition could be the problem and once she campaigns... |
|
...people will get to know her and her objectives more. Sure, it won't persuade those of us on here who have made up our minds, but we must realize the limit of our argument and admit that it is possible she will gain ground.
Though I'm a believer that she's apt to be upset by Edwards (or Gore if he runs).

7. Yes, it would be interesting to see what the polls would show if Gore got in |

8. While it is possible she will gain ground I believe it is more likely |
|
she will lose ground. She unites the RepubliCANTS as no one else can.

9. According to the lastest Mother Jones - Clinton's negatives |
|
are almost as high as her positives. People either love her or hate her. There isn't a big pool of "undecideds" for her to win over, she would have to win over people who don't like her and that is a tough row to hoe.

13. I thought he's "leaving the door open", but has made no decision yet? |
|
Hillary and Obama haven't announced yet either and they're in the list.

14. He's said a couple of times that he has np intention of running for office again. |
|
He hasn't explicitly said "No, I'm absolutely not running in 2008," but he has repeatedly sent out indicators that he's not running, and doesn't really want to.
