Execution of Saddam... "so what do we do after?"
Reminiscent of High Plains Drifter where a midget mayor/sheriff asks Clint Eastwood, what the townspeople will do "after" they kill some threatening bad-guys, the preceding headline asks a valid question. Certainly, Shia Muslims will rejoice. Sunni Muslims already claim the trial lacks validity but perhaps, they too will rejoice over gaining this new excuse to escalate their civil war and spill more blood.

(CBS/AP) After a one-day lull, bloodshed surged again in the capital Saturday, with at least 17 people dead in attacks and 27 probable victims of sectarian killings found dumped in the streets as Iraq's prime minister launched a fresh appeal for reconciliation.

Violence has escalated sharply in Baghdad over the past week, except for Friday, when only three killings were recorded — two Iraqis shot to death and a U.S. soldier killed by a bomb.

Saturday's toll raised the city's violent deaths to more than 180 just since Wednesday — either slain by bombs and gunfire or tortured and shot before being dumped, a hallmark of reprisal killings being waged between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.

Appealing again to Iraq's divided sects, Shiite Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki urged Iraqis to put aside their sectarian, ethnic and political differences and embrace his reconciliation plan. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/02/24/iraq/main541815.shtml

Officials say Saddam to hang at dawnAdd story to my swissinfo panel

Ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein

By Mariam Karouny

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein will hang at dawn on Saturday, Iraqi officials told Reuters, setting a dramatic end for a leader who ruled Iraq by fear for three decades before a U.S. invasion and his conviction for crimes against humanity.

"They just called to tell me to be ready to attend the hanging at 5:30 a.m. (0230 GMT)," said a court official whose presence is demanded by law. The execution was planned by 6 a.m., he added, although he did not know where it would happen.

A senior politician in the Shi'ite Muslim majority behind Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said he would also attend: "It will take place by 6 a.m.," Bahaa al-Araji told Reuters.

In response to the midget mayor/sheriff's query, "what do we do after?" Eastwood, as "the drifter," replies, "after?"

The mayor/sheriff clarifies, "yeah, after we kill them."

The High Plans drifter says, "You live with it."

Maybe not this time drifter. Living with it, may not be an option for many of America's Finest.
