So for all of those rejoicing at the death of Saddam |
|
and posting morbid little cartoons with creepy captions...does his death NOW make everything that has happened in Iraq worth it? Are the thousands of Iraqi deaths worth this moment of glee for you? Are the nearing 3000 American soldiers lives worth this ONE moment? Because if you are rejoicing in this death...it is your payday. Hope you enjoy it.

Malmo...my family's from Limhamn. Spent many, many summers there, boy has that city changed from my childhood. I couldn't believe the new condos by the harbor.
Anyway welcome to DU!

And I'm one of those posting that creepy cartoon. I shed no tears for that overcompensating thug, but I say it's time to hold those who lied us into destroying Iraq accountable. Hanging isn't good enough for any of these mass murderers...

Hanging Saddam gives me no joy!!!!He was bought and paid for by the american government and then they used him and turned against him. Are we so barbaric that we think killing someone is the answer????Will it bring back the dead Iraqi's or our troops who were killed or mutilated???Will it end the killing???Who started this war????Who will rebuild Iraqi and give the people left there ,their country back and their freedom???

22. never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee |
|
"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."

He stood up to America and we showed him! USA!USA!USA!
Unfortunately we still have a vast number of prepubescent man-boy subhuman freepers in this country. They eat this stuff up. Likely the only thing they're pissed off about is that it was all too fast for them to ebay some tickets.

34. I have no love lost for Saddam |
|
and would have preferred to see him have a fair, impartial trial at an International Court. To quote Martin Luther King, Jr "Justice denied ANYWHERE diminishes justice everywhere." I also oppose the death penalty--however, if a true jury of his peers in a fair trial deemed that to be the punishment, then I would not like it (as I don't like the other executions), but it wouldn't have left such a vile taste of backwash. But I really think the avatars of the hanging Saddam are disgraceful and something I would expect to see where the majority of the authors have sloped foreheads and live in their mom's basement. Sanctimonious? Not at all. Consistent with my beliefs.

39. No, I'm against the war in Iraq |
|
But as long as we've been dragged into said war, we might as well do one thing right--take out Saddam for good.
People forget that, if he'd just been put in prison, he could have been released later on (by whatever faction-of-the-month that seizes power). Then he would have been free to become a dictator yet again.
No, it's not "worth it" to have 3000 soldiers and thousands of innocent Iraqis killed.
But as long as this horror had to happen, at least we've gotten rid of one murderous, torturing dictator in that region.
Now, if we can just get Congress to investigate and ultimately impeach Bush and his minions....

Saddam Hussein executed for gassing some hundreds of Kurds.
Bush kills 3,000 US troops (maimed some 20,000 or so) and probably some 600,000 Iraqis.
Is there a disconnect here?
The implications are obvious to me.
