Nation plans 5 days of mourning for Ford (for real??)
That's a little presumptuous, isn't it? I mean, all due respects for Gerald Ford but I don't remember getting the memo to grieve 5 days for the man. I'm still grieving the loss of The Godfather of Soul, James Brown!

1. Did we have all this hoopla when Reagan died?
I know it was a big media event, but did Wall Street close for him? Did federal workers get time off? I can't really remember.

3. Yes
the Reagan hoopla was even grander than this.

Personally, I don't know why the families want to put themselves through this.

4. It's a Wall Street tradition
I don't know about mail service, though.

Maybe someone else recalls. Seems a bit absurd. Then again, nothing this administration does surprises me anymore.

It seemed like at least two weeks.

8. Some who weren't federal workers even got time off
Our boss gave us half a day off the Friday after Reagan died. Nothings too good for Saint Ron ya know!

7. 5 days for Clinton?
Or Carter? Seems a little brief to me, if its put into some perspective. I've got no problem with this. It's about time we remember we're supposed to be one country.

Although I will miss James Brown A LOT MORE. His service was wonderful, that's the way to go out! Especially in a 24 karat gold casket, oh yeah baby!

9. mourning
Are they mourning Ford's passing, or the death of the Republican Party. I think Ford may have been one of the last decent Republicans.

10. F*ck him
He was a failure.
If you respect this "can't walk & chew gum" (to be polite) failure then
there is a precedent to respect the current "can't stay upright on a Segway" failure.

We have become a country of sizzle and no steak.

13. All I know is for about one week, every time I turned
on the TV, the burial guards were dragging Reagan's coffin off to yet another appearance... Frankly it was too much for anyone...

15. This must be a slow news time.
I can't think how else to account for the obvious over-coverage of the Ford demise. I mean, last night every cable news channel had video of a casket in a room on for hours. I finally found a rerun of one of those author appearances on C-SPAN.
