Put Your Fav Candidate Aside for a minute and tell me......
Who in the Party can defeat Her??? Seriously.
I just read part of the LA Times article on Hillarys machine and they have been putting it together since the White House.
It scares me. It was awful living through the Bush Years. having to live through a Hillary Presidency is beyond my limit of bearing.
I am asking for a cold eyed look at who seriously can take Hillary down.
Who?

1. Hillary
would be better than any Republican, but I think Edwards or Obama can beat her. Maybe Gore if he gets in, but he won't.

2. I agree about Gore and obama.
I also thought if neither gets in, then maybe the netroots could band together to take her down.
Hillary is like having a republican.

3. rethugs like Hillary because she won't win. Ergo, someone else
will rock and roll. And that's what Hillary is weighing, I think.
I think Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton is a bright, wonderful woman, but I hope she doesn't run. I think the 'Clinton' name is tired and aggravating to some.

4. A Democrat Could Do It.
Edited on Mon Jan-01-07 01:23 AM by MannyGoldstein
I think that an actual Democrat could kick Mrs. Clinton's Goldwater-Republican butt. And one will.

They just have to push her record - IWR... both "Patriot" acts... the first of the two awful bankruptcy bills (she missed the vote on the second)... sole sponsor of a bill to criminalize flag burning... fleeing from censure... co-sponsoring a bill with Lieberman to increase the military by 100,000 troops... "free" trade...

5. My friend Manny! Do you have a candidate who might usurp
Mrs. Clinton? Or anyone you're encouraging?

6. Gore, Possibly Clark
I think Gore's finished pretending to be a DLCer. Clark is smart and seems honest. Dean would be ideal, but he's not going to run.

How about Ted Kennedy? He's kicking ass these days, almost always votes correctly, and can't be older than McCain. (I know, it's crazy.)

7. Ted Kennedy
will be 75 in February. Far too old - he'd be 77 when he took office.

9. Wow.
And Kennedy wants Kerry to run. And Kerry is my pick.
Gore, should he decide to run, might be unbeatable. I will go with anyone other than this big ass pustule on America at this point.

12. Clark could be the populist candidate that would beat the others.
Although he is more progressive on the issues that any of the others (Kucinich excepted) he appeals to even the uninformed moderates and fear-driven masses. Although I'd prefer Frederich Engels or Jesus of the Beatitudes, or Gandhi or Wellstone, none of those seem to be on the list, being dead and such.

14. I really think we must think about this
Because from what I've read her machine will make W's look amature. They have been plotting for a decade for this. Everything in place. Senate and then,
I'm a good democrat but, I could not take a Hillary presidency. No way no how.
I personally think that Gore has the white house for the taking anytime. I know he could literally crush the machine.
Right now I support Obama and think he could, probably better than most but, I do think Gore is a garantee.
I wonder what it'd take for him to run if it looked like she would get the nomination????

He certainly has lots of support from what I gather.

25. i am suggesting that people shouldnt pretend that its only their candidate that can win
especially since the candidate has lost before.

an argument Could be made that kerry lost because bush and co rigged the election

but the dem nomination wasnt rigged, was it?

18. It's not who can defeat her. It's that she can't be either nominated or elected.
Ms. Clinton has been so deionized by the corporate media, there does not seem to be any road back.

Almost all of the good dems I know around here shake their heads when Hillary is mentioned. They like her, but know that nobody is really supporting her seriously.

I like her, so don't get me wrong. I just don't see any support strong enough to get her through.

Unfortunately, she's like George McGovern or Michael Dukakis. I don't believe she could win. As much as we might like a person, they will not have the political momentum to win.

But she will be a formidable candidate if she decides to run.

19. nobody
none in the democratic party can defeat her if she seeks the nomination.

That said, she probably can't win the general election because the hysterical
red state idiots (ironically the least likely folks to be bombed)
vote religiously in massive numbers, and they think a woman
wont be "strong" enough on national "security".
Thats the sad reality-so we have face it.

I just hope she doesnt try for it. I cant imagine why she would
want to be the first woman to run and lose.

That said, I know she would be a better president that bush,
so i will vote for her if she's the party nominee
and I will not sabotage her like the idiots who voted for ralph nader thereby siphoning
80k votes from Gore in Fla.

(speaking of...thanks Ralph: for Sam Alito, John Roberts, preemptive war, the multi trillion dollar deficit, the hatred towards this country that bush has incited, the end of bankruptcy protection for the poor, and the jihad on the environment you purport to love)

Gore is the strongest candidate against any repub-IF learns how to make
make friends with all the groupie journalists. His personality is horrible.

Edwards could also defeat any republican. Obama is too young, untested,
and inexperienced-he would implode in what will be a long nasty campaign.

23. The press has been wrong before, and machines stall out
because people forget to get oil changes.

I think Hillary has been hyped beyond the stratosphere and that in reality her base is in the Democratic Party is much smaller than advertised. She has an army of PR people, true. I think the average Joe is sick of hype and spin and this will be her undoing. People are tired of snake oil salesmen selling them polls. Wonder how many of those polls represent wishful Rs trying to take Dems out. The Republicans want Hillary. She's their dream candidate.

I've said it before...I know of know Dem who plans to vote for her in the primary or who speaks enthusiastically for her.
