Obama press sec: "Though I'd note that the 's' and 'b' keys aren't all that close to each other"

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/02/D8MDBBEG0.html

CNN apologized Tuesday for mistakenly promoting a story on the search for Osama bin Laden with the headline "Where's Obama?"

A spokesman for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama said the apology was accepted.

...

CNN called it a "bad typographical error" by its graphics department.

...

Tommy Vieto, Obama's press secretary, said he appreciated the bloggers and activists who brought the error to light so quickly and helped make sure it was corrected.

"Though I'd note that the `s' and `b' keys aren't all that close to each other, I assume it was just an unfortunate mistake, and don't think there was any truly malicious intent," Vieto said.

5. How long did the "mistake" stay visible?
If more than a minute, that's very telling.

6. I make similar typos all the time
Every time I try to type out the word BUSH, it usually comes up ASSHOLE. A purely innocent mistake.

So, I can see how anybody could make that error. An innocent mistake.

10. LOL
I know people write "LOL" all the time when they just find stuff amusing, but your post ACTUALLY made me laugh out loud. Nice set up. I knew it was coming, but was still gratified when it came. That's the mark of a good joke, in my view. Nice job.

7. Absolutely imperative that it be responded to ASAP
and they did it with the help of the eagle eyed media whore watchers. I almost hate to say this, but Gore needed this type of reaction to every false story that was blown up into an assault on his character. Instead of apologizing for the internet thing, he should have had staffers demanding apologies from every whore who repeated that malicious lie. And that should have continued all the way to the end.
Great job Osama, er Obama!

14. cnn are total dumbasses
they thought they were sooooooooooooooo smart and sneaky, sure maybe to the glenn peckerwood crowd but they have actually done alot of damage to themselves. cnn backed themselves into a corner and will now be held accountable for their 'mistake' in the future. Mr. Obama handled the situation correctly.

19. This is why this is pissing people off.
THIS is what he SHOULD have said:

"I'd note that the `s' and `b' keys aren't all that close to each other. I cannot assume it was just an unfortunate mistake, and think there was truly malicious intent. This is part of a longstanding pattern on the part of various television networks," Vieto said.

And THAT'S why people are getting pissed off. POINT FINGERS. NAME NAMES.

That's not being mean OR crass- it's called being TRUTHFUL.

22. Point fingers and name who? The mistake is obvious, the culprit is not
And the acknowledgement classily addresses the suspicions that we all seem to share about the "mistake."

23. Look, it takes talent to hand out guilt
without looking like you are doing so. It is better to play the nice guy while giving the offender a little poke with the stick. He pointed out that it was hard to make such a mistake, but they were going to be the better people and let it go. CNN cannot go on the air and say what poor sports the Obama camp is, because they are not. CNN can only admit their own "mistake" and be apologetic. No attack needed yet. It's a long time until 2008. It is called picking your battles.

Oh by the way, that may be yours, and many here on the blogs, truth, but that does not mean it is everyones truth. And to accuse the handling of this as being untruthful is going a bit overboard I think.
