I believe for a few reasons that gays in the military are just a bad idea. First off its my understanding that many of the men and women who serve in the armed forces practice some form of christianity. as do i which i guess could say makes me biased. the point is even if people are born gay, which i dont believe, that still doesnt make it right. god made them that way to try them and see just how much they love him. are they willing to combat those urges in order to follow his will. its not different then the fact that your not supposed to have sex before marriage. sure you want to but do u love and trust enough in the lord to deny that and not do it.
