I need a fundy translation, please.

I ran across this posted in a local news predictions for 2007 forum.

"If this country continues to turn its back on God, watch out! If this country forsakes is Israel, sit back and watch God work."

I understood the rest of the post, paraphrased it was, woe be unto all ye godless Americans. What I can't understand is the sentence above. Do they mean if we abandon Israel then God is going to smite the US? Or is this codespeak for the rapture?

1. Its rather ironic

They want us to support the Jews taking all of Israel because that is part of their end time prophecy. See its not them hoping for the best for the Jews. See in their notion of the end times once the Jews have Israel again they get slaughtered by God. Only those that accept Jesus will be saved. So yeah... nice friends they have there.

Are you saying that that means smite not rapture? In context it was intended to imply some sort of retribution, of that I'm sure.

Rapture is a good thing to them after all. Rapture comes when Israel fulfills God's destiny for it. Interfering with that destiny means the smiting continues until morale improves.

help Israel, then "God" will smite us. If God can "do" that to us, why doesn't he just help Israel?

because buddying up to Israel will eventually cause Armageddon as they feel secure enough to dynamite the Dome of the Rock and rebuild the Temple, one of the main conditions for beginning Armageddon.

The fundies are terrified the world won't go up in flames and they won't get sucked into Heaven. They're terrified they're going to have to start cleaning up after themselves.
