2. hell, it got me off my ass to clean my house |
|
Just so I could avoid all the never-ending speeches. So, in a sense, it actually helped my family. :sarcasm: And I saved on electricity as well!

4. It's actually less than the Reagan funeral. |
|
Remember this has gone on longer too because of the holidays.

11. You are right about that |

I don't remember how many Memorial Services they held for Reagan, but it seemed like they held quite a few.... It really crosses the line between a proper burial and one for show....

5. Glad to know I'm not alone |

IMHO, it's time to give the family and friends some off-camera private mourning. Run a clip on the evening news and be done with it.

That I know of. One at the Apollo, a private service in Augusta, and then the one we saw on TV.

16. But they keep saying Ford was such a modest man, I'm surprised he'd plan something this elaborate. |
|
I mean no disrespect.

His home state of Michigan, where he was a Congressman. Then the White House. Then California. I really don't know how you could do less. Like I said below, my parents had 2 services. Ford had 2 services. They just had to stick a State funeral for a former President in between there. I don't think it's out of line at all.

8. I sort of joked to my self in the same way |

Frankly this whole thing of more and more military stuff and a man on a horse in marble in the middle of the square has left me cold. If I wish to see a military show I will return to the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.. The empire is gone but the show lives on and that is done so well. Lets leave the dying empire to the Brits. I am sink of trying to build up men who I can hardly recall.

but I am sure that this thread and the responses to it (including this one) are proof as to why "Last Comic Standing" was cancelled.

One in the town they lived in. Then they were taken to their hometown, a day for visitation, then the final funeral. They were just normal old people, not community leaders or anything like that. This doesn't seem all that out of proportion, considering he was a President. I don't know why people are getting their panties in a twist about it.
