Brokaw snubbed Nancy Reagan?
Brokaw was acknowledging all of the first families in the congregation, but he left out Nancy Reagan, who was none too pleased. What a dweeb! By the way, I actually felt sorry for Nancy the Dragon Lady yesterday. I guess I'm growing soft in my old age.

As Carter, Clinton and the elder Bush greeted one another, it served as a reminder that the world's most exclusive club has shrunk considerably in the past few years. Nancy Reagan, last at the cathedral to memorialize her own husband, arrived wearing dark glasses. When former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw forgot to mention her as he greeted the first families in his eulogy, she whispered to Rosalynn Carter, then made a slight, sardonic wave in Brokaw's direction.

1. that's a shame, but maybe he didn't know she was there.
I'm glad she spoke with Mrs. Carter because I got the impression that the Reagan's and Carter's didn't get along.

2. She was sitting right next to Rosalyn Carter in the front row...
I don't see how he could have missed her, but maybe he was nervous?

At any rate, he won't be getting any exclusive interviews with Mrs. Reagan anytime soon, I guess it's good he's retired.

3. I doubt it was intentional
but he should've acknowledged her, presuming he even knew she was there. I remember the TV reporters being a little surprised that she was in attendance.

4. I noticed that at the time
but figured it was just inadvertent. I don't really like Nancy but I did feel kind of sorry for her cause she looked so all alone.

5. Brokaw also insulted Hillary Clinton -
He acknowledged President and Mrs. Clinton. The correct acknowledgment should have been President and Senator Clinton.

Tom is clearly an equal opportunity chauvinist pig.

6. I heard that while getting my nails done. Only time I've seen
any of the Ford hoopla was at the nail salon and it was force-fed.

7. I don't take that as an insult
While she IS Senator Clinton, she is also Mrs. Clinton, and she was at the funeral in her capacity as former First Lady, not as Senator.

I doubt she was offended.

8. I was offended. If she was not then she is a bigger man than I.
It was just a typical insult by a man who forgets/regrets how much the world has changed.

Just for the record, I despise Brokaw. The world has left him in the dust as he continues to mythologize WWII vets. Even my 90 year old father thinks the wheels have come off his wagon. My Dad thinks his generation just met the challenge in front of them and he believes that any generation would/will do the same.

9. One other thing Monkey Funk -
don't ever try to tell a woman when she should or should not be insulted or offended by what she takes to be a gender bias remark. If you are white, would you step in and tell a black person that something they experience differently than you is/was not racist?

10. I didn't tell any woman anything.....
I simply said I doubted that Senator Clinton takes offense to being called Mrs. Clinton.
