Rove is obviously a one-trick slimeball. |
|
Well, OK, maybe a three-trick slimeball: Tell lies, tell big lies, tell gigantic lies. He has always been able to bluff, bluster and brazen his way through anything, with lots of corporate money and the willing cooperation of a lapdog corporate press behind him. He still has the corporate bucks and the compliant press, but now things seem to have have stopped working the way they used to. In fact, things stopped working for him as of last November. People are developing an immunity to the likes of Limbaugh & Hannity. Rove's only answer--his only fallback strategy--is to do more of the stuff that has now apparently stopped working.
The Surge is Rove's latest maneuver, and a typical one. The public doesn't want the war? OK, let's go in even bigger. Hell, let's nuke Iran.
It's the old attack 'em at their strong point strategy, like turning Gore's knowledge and wisdom against him (Love Canal, inventing the Internet) and the Swiftboating of Kerry.
Can he make it work one more time? Somehow, I don't think so. Like Saddam, he's reached the end of his rope.

1. He can only get away with it if the Democrats allow it. They hold the purse strings. |

2. Unfortunately, I think his tactics would work again for another |

candidate. The problem with his Shrub lies is that too many people have seen them to be LIES. If Shrub would have been a better Prez, Rove would still be a hero.
IF he signs onto the Pub 08 candidate, his lies, insinuations, and scare tactics will work again.

I admit the guy is a smart pol operative - he got "W" elected - twice (by cheating).
But he is smart. He is just not the political end all.
Not in America.
America is maybe not the swiftest of peoples - but not stupid either.
His stragegy had to count on us being forever stupid. Not going to happen.
I think two trick slimeball - but the backlash will be equally strong.
