If Congress Sides With Bush* On Escalation of War, The AmerIcan People Have No Representation. |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-09-07 10:26 AM by spanone
Think about it. If this war is allowed to escalate as bush* wants, and congress gives any nod of approval, the American people and their only power i.e. the vote, have no voice or sway in their government and I have no political party to vote for in future elections.
I think this issue defines this Congress. This is their chance. Now that they are 'in power' they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
I say DO. STOP THIS MADNESS
IMHO

if they don't represent us even on this common sense issue, I am done with them and will actively support independants and other parties. I have always voted straight Dem even though I find them too conservative. If they can't even handle this correctly I am done.

4. Well, don't just threaten them here and give up. |
|
Write them. Call their offices. They're open right now, I'm pretty sure.

7. Alright, then. That goes for everybody here, too. |
|
Actually, I'm pretty frustrated by the glacial pace of progress (although it's considerably less glacial than it's been) and the possibility that these guys may still let us down, too.

8. November 7 told Congress everything they need to know...."BRING OUR TROOPS HOME |
|
NOW!" We have spoken. They don't HAVE to supply the funds for an escalation. They can still give enough funds for the troops that are still there and enough funds to BRING THEM HOME.
THE PEOPLE spoke on November 7...I suggest they heed what we said.

9. We really can't effect real change |

if those elected do not follow the wishes and well being of it's people. Like it or not, our system has been exposed as just how it can be manipulated into authoritarian rule although orginally formed to resist such rule.

13. The American people made their wishes known very clearly in November. |
|
The Democratic Congress knows this is why they are in power now. They must do what is expected of them, or they will not stay in power for long.
Polls show the vast majority of Americans want our troops out of Iraq, sooner rather than later. The Dems know what they must do.

14. Ah yes, the big "IF". |
|
"IF wishes were horses, beggars would ride". Once you start the "ifs" they stretch out endlessly and forever. There is enough actually happening with which to deal rather than playing the "if" game because every if begets another if.

So many will lose hope after all we have been through, I don't know, maybe if they don't stand up now it's never.
