Local wingnut letter wants liberals on reservations
The true face of Republicism? The guy also admits to controlling the media, which is surprising.

Problem In Politics

I am tired of the liberals in Speak Out who complain about the media. Republicans started Fox News with our own money. We bought major newspapers, and we control talk radio. We set the agenda for the network news. Liberals have no voice, and we can quickly make a liberal look kooky if he or she gets too feisty. We did it all with our own money. It is called “capitalism,” and it works. If you liberals really want a voice, move to France or Canada, or buy your own media. But, you liberals are too busy hugging trees and saving owls to stop our agenda. Pretty soon, we will stamp out all liberal voices as dangerous and un-American. Maybe confinement to reservations after that happens would be a nice end to liberalism.

1. That sounds like someone making fun of Republicans
They never admit that Fox News is biased.

12. I've seen a few admissions from them
I mean, when Bush originally nominated Harriet Myers, I remember Ann Coulter expressing frustration that Bush did not name a hard-core rightie because, as she said, “we have the media.”

Not sure exactly when, but within the past few years, Rove wanted something to avoid CBS News so it could be seen first on CNN and (something not Fox) because they were more friendly to the White House point of view.

And, I recall Bill Kristol himself even admitting that the excuse of the “liberal media” is just a boogeyman that Republicans throw out there when they do not get their way.

Heck, even the far right Media Research Center admitted that Fox was biased for Republicans

2. That actually smells like it was written by a liberal, to me.
Problem is, it's so hard to tell these days- there's
really no satire as wacky as what some of these
wingnuts actually believe.

21. no, I know people like this.
They truly believe that there's no problem with the "ownership" of the media. This, they believe, is what "freedom of the press" is all about!

3. Just.....wow.
Actually, the candor is refreshing in a way. At least he's honest about what the GOP viewpoint really entails. The desire to stamp out an opposing voice is tacit admission that one has no real point to make. Here's hoping more GOPers start talking like this, their insanity and vacuousness will just become that much more glaringly obvious. Keep blathering, righties!

7. Just my own feelings
I support this man's right to say what he wants, as long as it does not harm anyone. But the moment that people like this attempt to make their beliefs a reality then all bets are off and only the total destruction of an enemy like this will make this world a safer place to live.

I apologize if this assaults the sensitivities of some here, but all we have to do is to remember the 12 million that died in the death camps, because one man's thoughts became reality.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

9. Better make those reservations real BIG
After all, it appears that about three-quarters of the American people are in favor of the liberal agenda or some part of it: raise in the minimum wage, bring the troops home from Iraq, investigate the GOP and its malfeasance and reckless policies.

I'm not too worried. Loudmouths like this seldom embark on a fight unless they enjoy at least a 10-1 numerical superiority, and right now he's about 3-1 behind.

10. Don't assume this is a joke.
The republicans got as far as they did because they pushed horrible, repulsive ideas that the left wrote off as kooky or rediculous. And then those kooky and rediculous ideas became policy.

13. One of two explanations for this:
Either this is pure satire. If so, the author needs to sharpen up his "bite", IMHO.

Or

Ann Coulter is writing under an assumed name, again.

16. what's all this "we" stuff?
It's interesting how the writer, who's probably at the most middle class, includes himself in all of this: "our" own money, "we" control the media, etc.

It's funny and sad at the same time how work-a-day Republicans think they're in the same boat with Rupert Murdoch and Ann Coulter.

20. The problem with that is...
that it is anonymous. So, it has the "ability" to draw out the most nutty of the wingnuts.

when I moved into the area 2 1/2 years ago, it was all RW opinion bashing Michael Moore's then just released "Fahrenheit 9/11" - at least it's more balanced now (I've had 3-4 letters printed in a single week a few times) The one on the bottom about the correction on the worst Congress ever was mine.

The writer may have told the chair that he was writing something or had written the piece.

24. It's possible
There are like 40 towns, mostly small, in the district, however. So, it could be any of 80 people if you're talking about a local Dem or Repub chair.
