Poll question: What is the REAL big story of Bush's speech? |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 01:27 AM by regnaD kciN
Over the past couple of weeks, the only thing covered was the potential "surge" in Iraq and whether it would succeed or fail. But, from scanning the web, it seems like that's being overshadowed (at least in the minds of those watching the situation closely) by the implicit threat of action against Iran and Syria -- the latter underlined by news of the carrier group being sent just off the Iranian coast. And based on both the jubilation of Kristol on Faux and the palpable nervousness from the staff at MSNBC (particularly those who attended the "off the record" briefing this afternoon), I can't help wondering if they, as of now, know more than they're admitting.
What do you think? Was the main story of tonight's speech...

1. I'm afraid that bush is planning an escalation in two ways. |

More troops and more front lines.

4. And about that carrier group... |
|
...according to Georgius Caesar, it's to prevent Iran from arming Iraqi insurgents. But, unless my geography is faulty, don't Iran and Iraq share what is officially referred to as a "big-ass ol' border?" Why would Iran need to ship those arms via the Persian Gulf, when they could just hand them over the border at any of thousands of places? Isn't this a little like fortifying L.A. harbor to prevent Mexicans from entering the U.S.?

2. bush doesn't have the slightest idea what to do. He's run out of |

time, money, congressional support, and military bodies. 20,000 people isn't going to scare the Iraqis into submission. The war was officially lost tonight.

That's the REAL BIG story of the speech, and he's going to pull us right into Iran if we don't stop him.
