Democratic chairmanships also hang on a Democratic majority. No Democratic majority, no House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Fortunately, a lot of Republicans seem to be crossing over the aisle to vote with the Dems so far. That's good news.

Joe is in the Senate, one of the 100. Speaker Pelosi is in the House. The Dems have a safe majority in the House. The Senate doesn't affect the House. Joe only promised to caucus with the Dems on things like Senate majority leadership and, therefore, committee chairs in the Senate (all very important), however votes on non-organizational matters (laws, budgets, even symbolic votes) are up to each individual Senator. It is the job of the Majority Whip (and the Minority Whip) to try to keep their party members in line on these votes (do whatever horse trading and jawboning required)... it is also the job of the whips to make sure the senators show up to vote (which is going to be a problem with so many running for President).
I think Joe will vote with the Dems on the social programs (but maybe not all of them).

He will oppose any attempt to end this war, or even to keep the current status quo and not expand the war. Joe is a Neocon.
