Fifty Minutes.
Just under an hour.

That is the run time of a slide show which displays a photo of each US soldier killed in Iraq for one second. One second each. Say it with me. One one-thousand. That's how long each image would be displayed. An album length slide show in which the images are almost subliminally displayed.

That's also approximately the amount of time to hear the sorrowful tolling spoken as read from a book of tears.

One second to memorialize 40 years of life unspent if we assume the average age at 30 and a life expectancy of 70. Three thousand seconds, representing 120000 years of human life, which is how the corporate sponsors of this action would think of it in 'Human Resource' terms.

One second to acknowledge the grief rained down upon a family, to acknowledge the terrible knock that foretold the news, acknowledge the month it probably took to lay a beloved to rest, to conclude the initial ordeal.

One second to recognize the wasted potential.

One second.

Fifty minutes.

How long will it finally take?

-Hoot

2. and that is the saddest part, the innocents of Iraq
I'm sure some won't be missed but the majority are like us here, have families, have loved ones.

Today I cry for the innocent

3. Just over six hours to view Our wounded, and who knows to view Iraqi wounded.

Not that you imply it, but, my intent was not to trivialize Iraqi casualties.
