C-SPAN1: I must say, seeing Barney Frank as Speaker Pro Tem floats my boat!
As most of you know, I'm not a "Democrat" ... I'm an independent liberal (small-d) democrat. So, I'm not 'floated' merely by some party designation. That said, it just warms the cockles of my heart (conscious allusion) to see Barney Frank presiding over the House ... hearing his gravelly voice. That guy is superb - articulate, focused and unabashedly liberal. (Imagining the bigots on the right grinding their teeth is just frosting on the cake.)

3. Well, I'm a deontologist, not a consequentialist.
It's my profound belief that the depths of corruption to which the Republican Party has plunged is, for the most part, due to obsessive partisanship - absolutely anything to gain power. It's the ages-old corruption of the "ends justify the means" - which leads to an abdication of the original 'ends' for the sake of the 'means' only.

IMHO, the signs of that corruption are also visble on the 'left' and that's appalling to me.

6. "signs of corruption visible on the left"?
I'd say you're being very generous.

There's more than "signs", unfortunately.

Like, it's obvious.

sigh... :(

8. (grin) Well, I do my best to keep from offending my hosts.
Pssst! Don't look now, but there are at least a few rabid partisans on DU who don't think "Sam Shit (D-Hell)" stinks.

9. Yep. If I were gay, I'd be after his ass ... big time.
I get grins any time he's on the tube. I have NEVER once been disappointed in him. Even in the 'scandal' with his staffer/lover/partner, I found him an honorable man acting understandably.
