So what's the breaking point here? When 20-30 Americans die
en masse in Iraq instead of the steady "dribble" of deaths?

I'm about ready to blow. When does the rest of the country
worried about football start to react??

1. When they get their draft cards
In fact I brought the D word in a conversation with a pro war bushite, and it was funny to see an adult pale and literally shake.

But you asked, that is what it will take... when it is THEIR SKIN and BLOOD in the game... not a second before

I hate to be this cynical, but I was also told the same by a 20 something. Only a Draft will make his counterparts in college to pay attention

2. I think when the KIAs approach the rates of Viet Nam
when it is close to the order of 10-15 KIAs/day, averages smoothed out over time. 58,000 US soldiers killed in 11 years (1964-1975), that's about 14 KIAs per day.

But then again, I may be overestimating this rate, very likely we could see large-scale protests erupting when it is half of this amount, which it is almost approaching these days.

Also, it may be that the Pentagon is cooking the books for the official KIA counts, too. Not just for propaganda purposes, but to keep America in a state of denial that things are going very, very bad for them over there in Iraq right now.
