Bucannon: "500,000 people showed up to protest viet nam in Washington. The public
outcry isn't there for this". That's what he said last night on MSNBC after The Decider's speech.

I want 500,000 to march on Washington. WE NEED TO PLAN A MASSIVE PROTEST!

5. He has a point
We haven't organized effectively to protest en masse. I'm in NYC and I haven't seen shit since the convention. Those World Can't Wait protests were miserable. We need to mobilize somehow to send the message.

8. Wasn't the first protest before Bush's war the largest ever?
Edited on Thu Jan-11-07 08:56 PM by Nutmegger
I read that somewhere and, of course, didn't bookmark it.

Still showed that many, many people were against this from the beginning.

Found it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_15%2C_2003_anti-war_protest

16. Yes, I was there, and it was HUGE
they totally ignored us - what we need is hundreds of thousands ready not just to march, but to stay in the streets until we can affect policy change in a big way

12. Don't report the protests
so they don't exist, they never happened?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_24,_2005_anti-war_protest

Protesters from around the country joined a march in Washington D.C. organized by ANSWER Coalition and United for Peace and Justice to promote peace and an end to the occupation of Iraq. Organizers claim that around 250,000 people attended the demonstration. Police said that 150,000 was "as good a guess as any". <1> C-SPAN, which broadcast the pre-march speeches, is said to have estimated 500,000. <2> The demonstration route was chosen to be close to the White House, though President George W. Bush was away at the time.

17. Really? Huh!
Because it strikes me that this recent election, which was mostly in protest over Bush and his policies, was utterly unprecedented, even compared to the Vietnam era.

18. That number is lower then how many where there
Massive protest as far as the eye could see. Some of the May Day protest came close but not one as big as the one Bucannon is talking about it was more like 750,000 that day.

20. I was there in April of 1971
I was a lowly US Army draftee stationed at Ft Myer (Arlington, VA). We were ordered to stay away, but many of us went anyway when we were off on Saturday-Sunday.
