So our little town was going to buy some body armor for our police force |
|
Not that they really need it, but we are trying to stay engaged and ready.
And we were told that we will have to get in line because...
The lead time is way out there.
Seems as though their production is tied up with orders from our troops and their families.
I only wish that I could scan the reply and slam it all over the Internets.

1. I've also heard the Army will NOT accept donated body armor |
|
I don't know if this true or not, but I remember a DUer I think saying she was involved in a fundraiser to raise money for body armor for someone's kid in Iraq, but that they could not be used in combat because the army refused to allow it :(
We're in for some very sad years, I feel.

and incorporating it into the hillbilly armor they needed on their Humvee's.

3. It's even worse than that.... |
|
Some troops received armor from home far superior to that which is issued by Uncle Sugar and they were ordered NOT to use it, and were threatened by the military that if they used it anyway, they would forfeit their benefits.
The QT is that some of the big brass has this "Dragon Skin" body armor, the very same that is banned for use by the regular troops, even if personally acquired.
Such bullshit; I don't know why we haven't seen mass mutiny. (Yet.) ;)

5. damn, that's just tragic |
|
I think it should be a priority to somehow make very public the grievences of the soldiers who are experiencing this-- it's a high crime that this is happening.
Just bring them home. This bullshit has gone on long enough.

|
But I will see what I can do.
Thanks, Stephanie.
