Anybody else catch Diane Sawyer's reference to "Congresswoman" Boxer today
on GMA? I hope somebody has video from that. Diane implied that "Congresswoman" (yes, she said that) Boxer questioned Condi Rice's childless status in her defense of the war in Iraq in yesterday Sen. Foreign Relations Committee hearing. When the tape played it clearly showed Boxer making the point that neither her own kids or grandkids would be at risk with this surge nor Sec. Rice who does not have kids. Condi raised one eyebrow and looked a little shook. Sawyer continued with "Did you see her eyebrow go up?"

Honestly, I nearly spewed my Cheerios at Sawyer. It was in the lead in to the news, first thing on GMA at 7 a.m.

They're up early with the distortions over at ABC News and Good MOrning America!

1. That explains why I heard the wing nuts spewing "they were so disrespectful to poor Condi"
on C-Span this morning. Poor little Condi, not only were the democratic congress critters asking her hard questions but there were also turn coats demanding answers of Condi. Oh the horrors, finally congress is holding bushco's feet to the fire. Hey theres something congress should be able to do, since its alright for GW to torture why can't they torture bushco till they spill their guts and rat out the head rat?

3. Diane Sawyer was a Tricky Dick favorite and flew off with
him into exile in 1974.

She is a media whore's media whore.

4. Senator Boxer's statements
were not offensive, or insensitive by any stretch of the imagination.

What IS offensive however, are people like Mz. Rice who feel so free to blithely toss away the lives of the sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, moms and dads of others- to further their own self-serving agenda.

Mz. Rice has chosen to remain single and childless. Senator Boxer pointing out the hypocrisy of the notion that this administration can begin to understand the suffering and grief they have brought to so many people- may not 'feel good'. The truth often hurts- especially when it points out our flaws.

Have you ever heard of the "Peace Child?"- it's profound.

5. If anything, Boxer was putting herself in the same category as Rice
when it comes to having any family member at risk of being killed or hurt in Iraq.

I hope Media Matters mentions this.
