Republican Extreme Makeover Now On Public Display, Remember Repubs Role In All This |
|
Is this a partisan comment? Yes IS this a true statement? Yes
Would we be where we are today if the Republican Majority had not been in control of both Houses of Congress? and completely shut off Congressional oversight of Bush? Answers: No and No.
I am heartened to observe Republican Senators and Representatives coming out and opposing Bush's dangerous actions, even at this late date. However, we need to call it like it is. IF not for the Republicans' previous lockstep support of Bush and their stifling every effort to hold this President accountable, we would not be here today.
Now career Republican Hill denizens are speaking out against Bush. After all the damage they helped Bush visit on this country. After they participated in hiding evidence Bush lied us into war with Iraq, after they participated in the looting of the public treasury for the super rich, and after they rubberstamped the no-bid contracts in the billions of dollars for their corporate friends like Halliburton. Not to mention the secrecy which they used to hid their transgressions.
Well this is no television show. Republicans cannot be transformed overnight into responsible public representatives via an "Extreme Makeover."
Between now and 2008, Democrats and progressives need to band together and finish the job of 'sweeping out of Congress' this group of vipers who have been operating under the name of "Republicans." They are not only incredibly corrupt, they are dangerous, and the damage to our country must end.
If you doubt any of this, just imagine for a moment how things would be proceeding right now if the Republicans were still in majority control of both Houses of Congress --and what they would be saying today about Bush.
Yep, "extreme makeovers" can be useful when you are no longer in control as the Majority. Let's remember that, and make sure the voters remember that in 2008, as we try to stop Bush from starting new wars and begin the painful process of repairing our badly damaged country.
And don't let fear of being charged with partisanship keep us from placing the blame squarely where it belongs--- with the Republicans and with Bush.

3. Are you starting to get the feeling that repiglicans needed a leader to show them the way? |
|
I'm just saying that after 12 years of following DeLay, Newt and the other strong men, (yeah right, strong men = beat up the poor single mother types)And feeling sick about it, now that the Democrats are back in power they can follow without fear of repercussions. After all we know that repiglicans never made good leaders, they are way to tempted to corruption and tend to be like their supporters, sheep.

many in the gop were happy to lose control in 2006. That gave legitimacy to what they really wantd to do and that was distance themselves as far away from bush as possible. I hope bush is remembered as the president who put the gop in permanent minority status. Many in his party clearly see that possibility and the only near term "solution" was the dems taking control in 06. He has been a cancer on the country and his party since his first day in office.

unfortunately, people have short memories. Assuming we as a nation can ever repair the damage that's been done, we have to make sure our elected representatives never forget.

8. There is a formula for influencing the public's short memory .... |
|
IF you committed a particularly heinous act, or participated in it or covered it up(Nixon Watergate), then the public short memory may be triggered by utilizing massive sums of money to promote the 'revised' view of events.
If you have enough and spend enough to promote the revisionist history, the public's memory can be altered to adopt that revisionist point of view.
