I've always been delighted to have come of age during the whole hippie thing, we didn't wear those torture devices on our feet. When people asked me why I went into nursing I'd joke that it was so I could wear comfortable shoes.
My arthritic feet are a mess. If I'd tried to hobble around in pointy toed, spike heeled shoes, I'd be in a wheel chair.

along with the type of business suit that has a skirt, not slacks.
It's called "looking professional," something that seems to be inconsistent with being able to WALK.
I interviewed for a few of those jobs years ago. I told THEM not to call ME.
