This is the typical mindset of the ignorant American... |
|
heard some yahoo caller on CSPAN this morning (I've GOT to stop watching that, it makes my blood pressure go dangerously high), the reason why we can't win in Iraq is because "they are all haters over there". They not only hate us, but they hate each other, over some long ago and largely forgotten issues that occurred 100's of years ago.
This is a guy who DOESN'T support the escalation, not half as crazy as those who do. Sheesh, how do you rationalize with such ignorance?

And by throwing out Saddam without any plan we totally fucked them over.
We unleashed a civil war.

2. You don't "rationalize" it. You educate it. |

4. Maybe they hate us because we invaded, and then murdered, raped and tortured |
|
about a million innocent Iraqis.
And have destroyed their country.

6. The media is now fueling the increasingly common |

talking point that the Iraqis are to blame for the US fuck up because they didn't respond to shock and awe and everything since with rose petals and the keys to the country. And some morons seem to be falling for it.
I'm still waiting to hear some Democrat - any Democrat - counter this nonsense by pointing out the obvious. They hate us because we invaded their country, killed and maimed hundreds of thousands, engaged in sexual humiliation, rape, and torture, and made a naked grab for their oil resources. They have plenty of valid reasons for their rage.

people are waking up to the fact that Iraq is "unwinnable", I won't even go into that issue, but it's a "blame the Iraqis" mindset. The rest of the 30% of the wack jobs out there that still support Bush are in the "blame the Democrats and the media" mindset.
We as a nation will never own up to our own crimes and misdeeds, until someone in our leadership has the guts to talk about it. I just don't see any politician standing up and saying "We allowed this to happen, we were profoundly wrong, and we're all to blame".
