Smirky's 60 Minutes Interview - Transcript

It was Clenis' fault:

(snip)

Oh, absolutely. Everybody was wrong on weapons of mass destruction. I would ask people to go back and look at the comments of many of the Democrat leadership prior to my arrival in Washington, DC, people who'd looked at the same intelligence I looked at. I'd look at the people's comments when the run-up to the war. They had looked at the same intelligence I had looked at. It was pretty well universally thought he had weapons. And there was an intelligence failure, which we're trying to address. But I was as surprised as anybody he didn't have them.

(snip)

Liar, liar, liar.

2. Nobody else took us to war over their ill founded beliefs.
And Mr. Bush and his friends deliberately lied about the quality of the information that they were presenting, transforming dubious rumors into solid facts, transforming total discredited bullshit, such as the yellowcake niger nonsense, or the aluminum tubes, or the mobile bio weapons labs, into credible facts.

He is a criminal and belongs in jail.

3. The intelligence that he pushed for, that he wanted to hear was wrong.
Why does nobody have the gonads to challenge him on the fact that he had his mind made up already? In a meeting with Senators and Condi Rice over how to deal with Iraq, Bush poked his head in the room and said "Fuck Saddam, were taking him out."

If he had good intelligence to go into Iraq, he wouldn't have needed congress to give HIM the authority to choose. He wanted that authority because he fucking KNEW the case wasn't good, and if congress actually DID know what he knew, they wouldn't vote for the war.

4. That's it on the nose
Nobody saw "the same intelligence" that Little Lord Pissypants saw. What we all saw was carefully cherry-picked and even then, a substantial portion of the populace STILL didn't think an invasion was a very good idea.

But yes, why didn't the fearless bulldog of an interviewer (60 Minutes is famous for them, isn't it?) call Mr. Bush on such a blatant misrepresentation of the facts?

6. "Everybody was wrong on weapons of mass destruction."
Bush continues his pathetic attempt to revise history.

Anyone else notice Scotty has adopt "Democrat Party" instead of Democratic Party?
Scotty, once just another mediocre TV news reader, is now Karl Rove's Bitch. Atta boy, Scotty!
