Why did Bush choose to go on 60 Minutes tonight? |
|
We know he would never give an interview or press conference if he did not think it benefitted him in some way? What kind of deal did he make with Scott Pelley or CBS? What was his primary message? "Yes, I can invade Iran if I take the notion"? Is Rove still calling the shots?
One thing we can be sure, he never went on CBS because he wanted to explain his policies and plan to the American people. That's not the way he works. His intent was to manipulate, to divide, to create controversy, and to spit in the face of the new Democratic Congress. That was his plan.

That's all the cheer-leading I can do right now. I'm running low on spirit too, as much as energy. Just take a break and then take a little action.

While she may not have much, she does have a great sense of timing. Look for her to announce at a Cosby Stills Nash and Young Concert.
I bet she returns from Iraq all 180..."No surge, withdraw".

Hillary Clinton is yesterday's news. Wrong on the war, still won't admit she is wrong, not a leader I could ever respect.

I cannot believe our system is so flawed, or the elected officials are so incompetent, that we can do nothing about this situation. This is insanity!

like this. We couldn't have even dreamed it was possible. But, thinking about it...the signs were there when they went after Clinton. What's odd is that it seems both Hillary and Bill have "gotten over it" and have joined the crowd along with Lieberman.
Things are so strange and foreboding...out of control. One even wonders if we aren't being treated to somekind of "road show" manipulation by our congress at this point. Protesting but seeming unable to do anything.
One ray of hope for me is that Nancy Pelosi seems to be with us. Who knows how she's being worked against...and who knows what the Senate will do...but I heard interview with Pelosi on NPR last week and this lady is totally against our being in Iraq. She took a chance trying to get Murtha in and was over-ridden...but she is definitely on our side even if she said "impeachment is off the table" I think if there's anything she can do with allies of hers...she WILL DO IT. (And, I'm saying this as a person who never really cared for Pelosi...she has surprised me with her conviction about getting out of Iraq and her dislike of Bush and his policies)
That's about it for the ray of hope. UN seems useless and our "allies" seem to be letting Blair and Bush fall into the muck on their own. Deals have probably been made with China and Japan about their having oil supplies from the Saudi's if we disrupt the Iranian pipeline...so they won't be much help in this situation.
We have to hope that somewhere out there there is help that we just don't know about going on in DEEP BACKGROUND. Bush and Cheney are both out of control and Hilteresque in their delusion.

When THEY had a slim majority they used it to impeach the president over a consensual affair, while Bush Sr. had enjoyed a consensual affair for many years with full Beltway protection.
Now that it's OUR slim majority, we must use it to save the nation, and the planet, by any means necessary.

He did a lot of spitting, created lots of controversy (which he really didn't need), and probably tried to appear like 'the guy you want to have a beer' with to the uninformed assholes in abundance in this country.

Jebus Fucking Christo! Anybody other than a lad fresh from the woods has seen the Washington Monument from a west-aspect angle. The fast camera shot of the fat-boy Rove showed him pointing like Serengeti-guide at a bull elephant at the mundane Washington (low) skyline. Naked boys in the Tidal Basin, KKKarl? You wish.

sycophant in the MSM, then all the other MSM can squeal about what a great, strong leader he is. What he says is not important in and of itself. Although tonight he did pretty much say that he can spend as much money and blood as he wants to maintain perpetual war. The important thing is that he faced the "liberal" media, which is in fact 100% GOP.

He's always selling some fucking thing, like a used car salesman. Cheney out there too, today on Fux Sunday.
Handlers? Of course. The talking points are out there for the coming week so his sycophants Rush and Hannjob, et all can pick up the blather.
What else can he do? His numbers are tanking and he's getting no traction with escalating this war. The UK is bailing and people here, dem or pub, are showing fatigue, as well they should.
Remember the weeks the guy spent traveling the country and the consummate failure bush experienced in trying to sell Social Security reform, and that remember was after an incredibly protracted and arduous sales job.

...all part of the "SotU" "pre-game show" to try and maximize the duration and amount of an anticipated short-blip bounce in his approval ratings. Thus giving him enough "lift" to launch further militaristic expansions. And if it climbs even five points, they'll try and pretend that's leverage and gravitas, and use it to try to steamroll the democratic majority in Congress.
