Are they TRYING to make Sunnis angry? Saddam's Half-Brother 'accidentally' decapitated
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 08:48 AM by ck4829
Two of Saddam Hussein's aides were hanged before dawn on Monday, the Iraqi government said, admitting that the head of his half-brother Barzan Ibrahim al-Tikriti was also ripped from his body during the execution.

On the defensive after international uproar over sectarian taunts during the illicitly filmed hanging of the ousted president two weeks ago, government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh insisted there was "no violation of procedure" during the executions of Barzan and former judge Awad Hamed al-Bander.

But defense lawyers and politicians from Saddam's once dominant Sunni Arab minority expressed fury at the fate of Barzan, Saddam's once feared intelligence chief, and there was also skepticism and condemnation of Iraq's Shi'ite-dominated government across the mostly Sunni-ruled Arab world.

4. Accidently, pfft
There are "hangman's tables" from the 19th century, prescribing rope and drop lengths per weight to ensure the subject neither gets decapitated nor spends his last minutes strangling. In other words, the methods were worked out loooong ago, if those idiots cared to follow them. Apparently, they don't. They like their ad hoc lynch parties.

5. A country we must save. Bush loves this stuff
or I am getting this feeling. The inmates etc.---- Why even say it any more. Most of the world and the USA think Bush has lost it and so have we to ever get this nut into this office. The autocrat will save us all never fear. With divine rulers this is what you get. Unfit rulers. Just what our founders did not want and they did want Congress to have part of the power. Why don't they just cut off the money and bring the troops home. We have let this guy run around like a chicken with out a head long enough.

6. Short answer YES they are
and coupled with continuously keeping Shia' in the ruling position there by guaranteeing Iran's continued presence they have the excuse to keep troops there forever. The last thing they want is an end to sectatian violence.

10. FWIW
about 25 years ago, I read an anti-death penalty book where they described some of the truly horrific things that can happen during an execution. According to them, having a person's head come off during hanging was not uncommon and was a reason why women and children were often forbidden to attend.

Not saying that what happened to Saddam's brother was in that vein, but it would not be completely implausible.
