Iran Attack
When confronting war hawks regarding Iran, I bring forth these points.
Of course the sound of chirping crickets follows.

---
If we attacked Iran.
Iran would disrupt the flow within the fragile oil industry.
This, in turn, would obviously drive petroleum costs through the roof and cause the USA's economy to take a huge nose dive.
Inflation would go through the roof.

We would definitely suffer greatly from such a blunder by Bush.
Are we ready for that?
Are you ready to see $10 a gallon gas?
Are you ready to do some very real suffering?

2. I'll add to the list.
Notwithstanding the hyperinflation, are you ready to have a disruption of deliveries, like food. Stuff won't be as available as it is now with a breakdown of transportation based on sudden and severe inflation for costs.

How about a heating bill that's at least five times what you're paying now?

How secure is your job? Even if you get to the workplace, will you have employment as "things change" when a society wholesale loses its disposable income that lubricates the wheels of the economy.

3. that's a good point

and part of why I don't think it will happen despite now over a year of predictions on the DU that it would, (remember supposedly the attack was going to take place right before the 2006 elections to help the republicans?)

Bush do a full scale war on Iran? In my opinion, not a chance. Maybe some limited bombing strikes at the worst, but even that would surprise me. This current Iran tough talk is all bluff I think. Anyway, if Bush does, it will guarantee a Democratic president in 2008 and increase Democratic congressional majorities so they can clean up this mess.

4. Yes, let's wait for the risk.
Maybe we can get a political victory out of it.

Squadron of 24 F-16 fighters lands at US base in Incirlik

A certain silence which had reigned over the US Incirlik Air Force base in the Turkish city of Adana for the past 3 years came to a close today.

After an absence of 3 years, a squadron of 24 US F-16 fighter jets landed at Incirlik yesterday, reinforced also by an early warning system AWACS airplane, as well as tanker airplanes meant for mid-air fuel replenishing. The F-16s which landed at Incirlik yesterday began flight training runs in Adana this morning, although authorities did not comment on whether the jets will be staying at Adana for a long duration or only temporarily.
