I say we all just SURRENDER to Tyranny. Come on, who's with me?!?!
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 01:09 PM by Philosoraptor
More and more I keep thinking about that old saying, 'if you can't beat em', join em', and I think I may be just about ready to go over to the other side.

Come on, think about it, that's where all the money is, that's where all the action is, we could be raking it in just repeating rush's words like all those other jerkoffs do.

Why fight the neo cons anymore, it's pointless and you know it, so give it up already, it's nice once you've surrendered, you're not angry all the time, you're resolved, at peace with the knowledge that there's absolutely, positively nothing what so ever that you can do about it.

I now agree with what all the republicans have been saying all along, we should stand behind our president, he knows what's best for us, he's a very wise man or he wouldn't be in such a high position.

Tyranny ain't so bad if you just stay out of the way and don't break any laws and pay your taxes and shop, and a few thousand dead soldiers is well worth the bountiful lives we consumers are living.

So let's stop all this talk about impeachment, ain't gonna happen anyway, not at this juncture, not, gunna, happen. So in summation, stay the course, follow the way forward, support the troops, fight em over there, freedom and democracy etcetera etcetera etcetera you know the drill.

5. You're right! It's so much easier to make wrong right than to right the wrong!
If you're waiting at the end of the line, just turn around and declare you're at the front!

2. For some reason I'm reminded of a scene from They Live.
Where the former-whino is trying to talk his buddies into joining the conspiracy.

"We all just want the good life. I'm sure you'd like a little piece of it too!"

7. or...Body Snatchers
Nothing changes.
You can have the same life.

But what happens to us?

You'll be born again
into an untroubled world,
free of anxiety, fear,...

- Wait.
- ..hate.

- David, you're killing us.

10. One of my favorite movies, too. The quote:

Drifter: What's wrong with having it good for a change? Now they're gonna let us have it good if we just help 'em. They're gonna leave us alone, let us make some money. You can have a little taste of that good life too. Now I know you want it, hell everybody does.

Frank: You'd do it to your own kind.

Drifter: What's the threat? We all sell out every day, might as well be on the winning team.

25. From one pagan/former fundy to another
The Jesus/rapture/eternal bliss myth sounds so comforting. Too bad I can't squeeze my mind back into that simple little box.

Blessed be, Shadow. I LOVE your taxicab reports.

16. You speak an ugly truth
Fact is, people can moan, groan, rant and rage all they want...a tyranny such as one that grows in America will allow protest and "free speech" rants against the government as long as they are contained, orderly - and no one is an actual threat to power.

The people get it off their chest...and the status quo stays the same.

The people feel better - even if only for a few...and government keeps on doing what it's been doing.

Tyranny in a "democracy" will grant/allow "the people" their little outbursts and demonstrations and government will even make flowery speeches about how it is the people's right to do so...as long as "the people" never present a real challenge to authority.

Maintaining the illusion of being free is necessary to a government that imposes tyranny but wants to cloak it in liberty.

Surrender or not...as long as tyranny holds the power, such a choice doesn't belong to the people.

29. The man failed this country on 9/11....
and that is when we should have started impeachment proceedings, or at least considered it when he tried to keep that highly treasonist act from being investigated..especially considering that we knew, yes, we knew, that he had stolen the election in 2000...ok, if not then, surely we should have stopped him from racing the Patriot Act, into law...or at least it should have been an indication that we were considered the terrorists...didn't it at least scare us into thinking about it?...then, w/o a doubt, we should have stopped him from charging into Iraq, after making such a mess of Afghanistan.....or when he told us that our Constitution was nothing but a "goddamned piece of paper", that should sure have done it, because he violated HIS OATH of office with that statement...still we wait....each incident is worse than the one before, how about outing an undercover agent, how about Katrina, out sourcing our jobs, or allowing American co's to go off shore, and not pay any taxes, while we struggle to take up the slack, like robbing the treasury to play god...HOWEVER....now, 4 years after pre-emptively invading a sovereign nation, Iraq, he wants to invade IRAN, and possibly use nukes to do so, while telling us via the SOTU that he doesn't give a shit what we think, he's going to do exactly what he wants...to hell with us...WHAT DOES IT TAKE??....because still we wait...FOR WHAT??? and FOR WHOM??? The longer we continue to delay, the more power he steals for himself, such as listening to our calls, spying on what we do on the net, opening our mail...the more he has hemmed us in with laws to keep us from acting out, and makes it more and more dangerous for us to even speak out, let alone act, because now they even figure they have the right to use specially harmful experimental weapons against protestors...but...hey, not to worry, because we continue to wait...for something...so if I could just figure out what the hell we are waiting for, I might feel a little better about the whole thing...

rant off now...flame away...
