Sen Wayne Allard R-CO not running in 08!!!!
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 02:15 PM by XOKCowboy
He kept his term limits promise. He's also promising to be the same rubber stamp for the Repugs he's always been the last 2 years of his term.

Anyway it's a good day for Colorado.

4. Word is...
Congressman Mark Udall. That wouldn't be bad but then we'll have to get another Dem to run for his seat.

:woohoo:

Who knows, with the convention coming here, we might just see another seat pickup in the Senate!

6. still plenty of time for him to flip-flop
Or, since he is a Republican, it is a strategic re-evaluation, and not a flip-flop.

12. They mentioned newly ex-Gov Owens...
as a R candidate. He's a died in the wool Republican who wasn't much of a governor IMHO. If we can beat Beauprez, Owens shouldn't be hard to beat. Now if they did run Elway he could pull in some voters with his name recognition. You know how Coloradans feel about John Elway! :eyes:

14. be careful what you wish for!
Owens would be a strong candidate for the Republicans. He's already won two statewide races; and both of those pretty easily.

The last two Dems to win statewide were Salazar and Ritter, who are both very much centrists. Udall would be the first true progressive with a shot at winning in a long time... and it's no lock, IMO. This is going to be a close race in 2008, and a real test of how "blue" Colorado really is becoming.

18. I think Owens would unfortunately be stronger than Allard
I think Udall can win in Colorado if he campaigns similar to the way that Tester did in Montana.

13. That's a shame I wanted to see Mark Udall crush his ass
But a democratic pickup in Colorado will still be satisfying, just not as satisfying without the unseating a Republican part.

15. Did you hear his announcement?
His list of "accomplishments" was weak at best. What irked me were the ultra-white Republican Party lackeys right behind him, grinning, all puffed up and applauding every point like each was the Emancipation Proclamation. Udall would have crushed him in '08, you're right.

17. He barely won last time and he can read the writing on the wall.
When you are about to be run out of town, get in front of the mob and pretend you are leading a parade.
