Poll question: Which Star Trek species is Bush most like: Vulcan, Klingon, or Ferengi
In honor of David Wu calling the Bushies Klingons on the floor of the House.

Vulcans, the coldly logical species

Klingons, the space equivalent of a biker gang

Ferengi, the money lovers

I vote for Pakled too
Pakleds are short, stocky humanoids with large bushy eyebrows. They are fairly simple-minded, but they keep pace with the capabilities of other spacefaring races by stealing technology (such as shields of Romulan design) from ships they encounter.

Pakleds tend to speak in a very simple and childlike way (for example: "We look for things. Things that make us go. Can you make us go?"). This can fool a Good Samaritan into thinking the Pakleds are harmless and helpless; the Pakleds wait until their benefactors' guard is down, then use a show of force to take what they need.

had to be one of my favorite episodes.

Yeah, he's a Pakled, apparently too damn dumb to do more than bang two rocks together and giggle at the noise, but making a career of stealing from everyone he comes into contact with, and now those he doesn't.

No, the Vulcans would do something constructive. They would lock him in a room and force him to do mathematics and computer science problems until he had developed some level of logical functioning.

No I remember on one episode of DS9 the Ferengi complained that human history was riddled with violence, ethnice cleansing, and racial hatred something the Ferengi did not have in their past.

What do you guys think about the Borg?? Essentially that is what Fundie Christian or Fundie Muslims are......

17. Aha! That's ignoring the initial introduction of the Ferengi on TNG!
When they first appeared, they were a barbaric race with stupid laser-whip things. The tidbit you refer to was the rewriting of Ferengi "history" to fit the particular episode, as done quite often throughout the Star Trek franchise.

43. Damned Ferengi revisionism
And you can't ignore the fact that they regularly use Ferengi "Rules of Acquisition", especially #9:
"Opportunity plus instinct equals profit"

Here are the some other samples:
1.) Once you have their money ... never give it back.
6.) Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.
13.) Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.
27.) There's nothing more dangerous than an honest businessman.
33.) It never hurts to suck up to the boss.
60.) Keep your lies consistent.
104.) Faith moves mountains ... of inventory.
106.) There is no honor in poverty.
144.) There's nothing wrong with charity ... as long as it winds up in your pocket.
177.) Know your enemies ... but do business with them always.
211.) Employees are rungs on the ladder of success. Don't hesitate to step on them.

And finally,

242.) More is good ... all is better.

71. They've changed quite a bit during the run of all the ST series
I recall that at the beginning of TNG they were supposed
to be the new Klingons, the enemy for the TNG to dread and
deal with. They tried during the first few seasons to go
with this, but it never caught on as viewers just didn't find them
that scary. They rapidly evolved into comic foils in
the TNG series to be replaced by the Borg as that cool new enemy
the writers were looking for. Personally, my favorite Trek
series DS9 really took the Ferengi characters and made them
very interesting. I thought the concept of the Ferengi
as representing all the crude excess and extremes of capitalism
but coming from a society that had never known slavery or
genocide like Quark said was very interesting. Either way
add Bush to any of the 3 races and its an insult to the
species IMO. Too dumb to be a Ferengi, to insular and dense
to be a Vulcan and not enough courage to be a Klingon, I've
always thought of W as more like the various human time travellers
of the past that appear on various Trek series. You know a
flim flam man getting by on technology he either stole or
fell into. Just my opinion great thread idea though.....
also did someone say something about out nerding as I think I may
have just blown the curve on that :)

After running four businesses into the ground, getting tossed off the Board of Directors of Carlyle Group and running an entire nation to the brink of bankruptcy, any self-respecting Ferengi would have committed suicide for losing face big time.

68. I'd say he would be a mix of Founders, Vorta, Cardassian, Jem'Hadar
Borg and Ferengi.

I don't think he would be just one race.

70. I dunno... the Dominion were pretty smart hombres...
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 11:30 PM by ReverendDeuce
If I recall, they were technologically superior to the Federation. Remember the Odyssey? I think the Founders are very non-Bush -- they were too smart. It was Section 31, if I recall, that defeated the Founders. If it were not for this super-secret Federation intelligence agency, the Federation would have fallen. Remember that episode when the Romulan Tal Shiar and Cardassian Obsidian Order embarked to destroy the Founders' homeworld and got royally fucked? "These Founders, Elim... they're very good. Next time, we should be more careful."

I agree with the first reply... Bush is a Pakled, through and through.

My favorite villain's in Trek, Bush ain't smart or tough enough
to cut the mustard in this crowd. Like the first reply said,
Pakled through and through (well put ReverendDeuce) :)

75. Vulcan - Spocks Brain
If limited to the three categories - he has to be Vulcan. Specifically the episode 'Spock's Brain' where his brain has been removed and he is controlled by a TV remote.

But if you 'Trekify' the Chimp, does that mean in the 'mirror universe' there is a Dubya who is charming, charismatic, intelligent, brave and doesn't have delusions of grandeur? (As well as the obligatory goatee of course. :P)

So, he's both a Ferengi and the ultimate Ferenghi.

82. In terms of Star Trek ya gotta go with Ferengi, but Douglas Adams
nailed him with the Vogons, or the ancient ancestors of earth people, definitely ship #3.

89. Klingons have honor. The Bushies don't. George W. is a Pakled.
The administration is a bunch of Cardassian wannabees,
They are scheming, authoritarian, predatory, and ruthless,
but they are inefficient and inept.
