On the January 15 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, in a monologue about Martin Luther King Day, Michael Savage called "civil rights" a "con" and asserted: "It's a racket that is used to exploit primarily heterosexual, Christian, white males' birthright and steal from them what is their birthright and give it to people who didn't qualify for it." Savage then said, "Take a guess out of whose hide all of these rights are coming. ... here is only one group that is targeted, and that group are white, heterosexual males." He added: "They are the new witches being hunted by the illiberal left using the guise of civil rights and fairness to women and whatnot."

SAVAGE: But basically, if you're talking about a day like today, Martin Luther King Junior Day, and you're gonna understand what civil rights has become, the con it's become in this country. It's a whole industry; it's a racket. Take a guess out of whose hide all of these rights are coming. They're not coming out of women's hides. Are they? Once upon a time, when the country was trying to develop a moral sense i.e. civil rights, equal rights, etc., no one would have dared to say something like this.

5. Not surprising

Savage seeks to be more extreme than the most extreme rightwing zealot.

The problem is he shouldn't be dismissed as "just another nutcase" because he preaches to actual nutcases. THEY don't view him or these crazy ideas that way. His voice IS their voice. And that's what's scary.

As his crazy ideas bounce around to the right unstable individual there could certainly be bloodshed from someone who feels denied their "birthright" or in danger from liberals or whatever. They'll believe their protecting their country, their own family.

IMO, this guy and his followers should be monitored closely.

It's only a matter of time before one of them goes off the deep end.

And the day that happens Savage should be tossed away in a cell and forgotten.

I despise people like him BUT I respect the right he has to think and feel the way he does. Once you cut away at anothers rights to free speech your turn isn't far away.

If something's a birthright, then you don't have to fight to get it. You're born with it.

And if that's the case in America Proper, the United States, then why did all these white, Christian men have to slaughter so many Native American warriors and civilians in order to take away the land THEY were born with, their birthright?

I'm getting tired of the birthright argument to justify land grabs whether it's this country, Israel, the Middle East, Japan, the Third Reich, England, etc. It's more realistic to admit, "If I see it, it must belong to me."
