I was at this business dinner and had repuke for desert... |
|
I was eating dinner with my manager, several colleagues, a couple of suppliers and a retired manager. The conversation throughout the meal surrounded the suppliers line of business. These people made parts for defense contractors as well as what they do for us. Some of their stories were very interesting. The conversation eventually turned to how outsourcing and cheap crap from china. The coversation evolved to the point where we were talking about all people who are unemployed. The retired manager proclaimed that outsourcing was good for america. I couldn't keep my mouth shut, I just had to ask how. He said cheap goods was good for our economy. How, I asked when no one has a job, who will keep the economy going?
This is where this guy exposes his lack of a sole. He said America was a free county and had more opportunity than anywhere in the world. He went on saying if I showed him someone who didn't have a job, he would show me an asshole. I presented the story of my brother who worked for the airlines until 9/11. He was without a job for 4 years and now works in a convenient store. He tried to tell me that was his own fault. I looked him in the face and said "You have sure exposed one asshole" By the expression on his face, he understood I was talking about him. Later my manager complimented me on putting him in his place. This fuck retired from the company with a nice pension and doesn't give a shit about anyone else.

and exploit those handling the outsourcing. Sorry, I'd rather be declared a hobby and go out of business than sell my soul like that.

9. He won't sit so smug when his company decides to dump pension obligations to "lower cost." |
|
If that happens, tell me what he thinks then.
