Don't Say you Weren't Warned...
Check out the hubris of Hillary with her already picked out vp...Bayh. Now we know why he dropped out of the race...

Jan 17 2007 - 3:44pm

Well, I may not add any points to my Swopadamus account for this post in early December wondering if Hillary Clinton might refrain from running for the White House in 2008, despite her massive $100 million stash of campaign funds.

But considering what Markos says today in analyzing her drop in the latest straw polls...
Everyone knows who Hillary is. So while the punditry thinks her money will help her, fact is, $100 million wouldn't be enough to redefine her. People have had 15 years to make up their minds about her, and they have. Some people love her. Some people hate her. Some people think she's great as Senator and that's that. Some people think she'd kill their local slate of candidates (just about everywhere west of the Mississippi). Some people see her as a vehicle to get their hero Bill back in the White House.

But whatever people think of her, there's nothing she can do to change those perceptions. And as the rest of the candidates raise their profile, she'll suffer accordingly. We're already seeing that dynamic at play, and nothing will change it.
... these closing sentences from my post seem reasonably on target:
I've waited for a sign of the passion -- for an issue, or even for self-promotion -- that you think would mark someone dreaming of the Oval Office. In the past few years, I haven't seen that.

I hope that means she isn't running, that at best she's indulging aides who don't want her to foreclose that possibility. Because if she thinks she can just drift into the White House on fundraising and name recognition without any motivating reason why she is the right President for this time, she's in for a large and unpleasant surprise.
Rather than trying to be invisible inoffensive and stockpiling cold cash, Hillary would be better off with one-fourth the money and a clear sense of what she'd do if she was President.

7. Exactly how does a photograph with Bayh...
Prove she has picked him for veep...not that I would not like that ticket...

And its funny how Hillary opponents are always telling me "its only a poll" or "polls this far out mean nothing" whenever one comes out showing her in the lead...

But when one comes ouot showing her tied, well then it is to be taken as the gospel truth...

10. Still boldly moving to the center
I don't know if its her, Clinton, or their team of "consultants" but someone is giving this woman bad advice. No republican is ever gonna vote forher so she doesn't risk alienating them by acting like a democrat. And she might pick up some undecided votes by showing a little spine.

13. Just curious...
is this original, or a repost of something from Kos? It's typical of the Kossacks to include a phrase like, "But considering what Markos says today" ... it's not so typical of us here on DU. Anyway, if it's original, good thoughts, and if not, you really should include a link to the original post.

16. Whatever else Hil is, she's not dumb.
I and I think she'd have to be to think she could win.

And I know I could eat my words, but I really don't believe she'll run. I think she goes home and laughs her ass off that everyone things she's running.

I suppose even someone with a sophisticated understanding of politics can be swayed by persistent sycophants. Maybe her handlers have convinced her she can win, but if so they've done her and us a disservice.

Then again, what the hell do I know?

17. Slam dunk post, my friend!
Because as soon as I saw those 2 posing together on teevee - I came to the same exact conclusion - Bayh dropped out of the race so he could be her choice for veep.

How clever.
How very clever, indeed.

But, it won't work - because they both favor Bush's plan to invade Iran - and in the end, that alone will kill their prospects for higher office.
