After over a month my sister got electricity and the price was high... |
|
Finally, she gets her electricity after going so long without. The box was around back and the guy drove the truck through the yard. He was in such a hurry that he ran over and killed my sister's dog. His name was Logan and he was an Australian cattle dog. He was a member of the family for over twelve years.
This happened right in front of her and knowing how much Logan was a part of the family I'm sure it was very traumatic for her. As nuts as my sister can be at times about things she's an avid animal lover and Logan was very special for her and her family.
She is devastated and I really wish there was something I could do for her.

2. I told her to check into it... |

she might be able to sue that guy and the electric company he works for. She was pretty upset today so I'm not sure if she'll remember what I said. I'm going to check on her tomorrow and see how she's doing.

Dogs are considered property and thus no pain and suffering awards are allowed.

My condolences to your sister on her loss. And the guy who ran over the dog - well, he needs to be reported, at the very least. Good grief, he could have run over a child driving like that.

5. Don't get her a dog yet. She must go thru the stages of grief. |
|
Help her thru it. I would try to encourage her to write about her feelings and about her dog. It really helps to bring out alot of thoughts inside. it's used alot in therapy and for a good reason. I think if you just are there for her. Let her talk about her grief and cry. She will move on much faster and heal if she does this. I had a back injury that altered my life and left me in a state of grief. I eventually saw a therapist to work thru being stuck emotionally. I went a short time as she helped me move past it fast. These are the tools that are used. If she is even a bit artistic have her do some art. If she does things like cross stitch, have do one to remember her dog. Things like this are helpful. Once she is over her grief, she can then, think of another pet. I know it would divestate me if I lost my pets.

7. They do have other animals... |
|
dogs, horses, cats and all that. They run a ranch. You are right, too. This will take a long time for her to heal over this. Logan was a very special dog not only for the length of time they had him, but also because of his unique personality. He was in every sense a member of the family. He is irreplaceable and this loss will be with them for a long time to come.
Thanks for the advice. I'll remember it.

the state agency that regulates utilities and approves their rates. Ask for compensation and damages.
My condolences on the loss of a family member.
