Sunday AM Talk Shows, Jan 21
JANUARY 21, 2007 -- SUNDAY AM TALK SHOWS

9:00 (ET) NBC – MEET THE PRESS w/ Tim Russert

John McCain, Edward Kennedy

As the president prepares to address the nation for the second time this month, his last prime time appearance has Capitol Hill clearly divided on the troop increase in Iraq. We will have exclusive interviews with two key senators on both sides of that divide.

Our guests: likely Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) who has been the leading advocate for increasing U.S. troops and Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA) who has authored a Senate resolution to stop the war's escalation.

10:00 (ET) FOX – FOX NEW SUNDAY w/Chris Wallace

With congressional Democrats and Republicans planning votes next week to declare opposition to the troop surge, what is their alternative for victory?

On FOX News Sunday this week: As critics from both sides of the political aisle take aim at President Bush's new Iraq policy, we will speak exclusively with two powerful Senate Democratic chairmen about their plan for Iraq. With congressional Democrats and Republicans planning votes next week to declare opposition to the troop surge, what is their alternative for victory? Additionally, what will come of Democratic proposals to cap the number of troops in Iraq or cut off funding for additional troops? And with the President set to deliver his State of the Union address this week, how will Democrats react to his domestic and foreign policy priorities? We will also get the GOP perspective with former House speaker and 2008 presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich .

Our guests this week include:

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), Chairman, Senate Foreign Relations Committee

Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman, Senate Armed Services Committee

Newt Gingrich (R), Former House Speaker

With Congress set to debate a variety of bills in opposition to President Bush's plan to send an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq, how far are Democrat and Republican war critics ready to go to oppose the new strategy? Sens. Biden and Levin are calling on the president to reconsider the plan and offered a "sense of the senate" resolution this week that declares that the troop increase is "not in the national interest." But with the White House not flinching on the new strategy and an increasing number of war critics calling on Congress to take more stringent measures, how far is the Democratic majority ready to go? Members of both parties agree that the stakes of failure in Iraq are grave, but what is the Democratic plan for success? We will discuss the way forward in Iraq, the threat from Iran and the upcoming State of the Union address with two senior foreign policy voices from the U.S. Senate, Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Then, we will look at the Iraq debate and domestic politics with a congressional veteran and 2008 presidential hopeful, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich . With an increasing number of Republicans in Congress coming out against the war, is the President's strategy doomed? What is the solution for Iraq and is the new strategy politically sustainable with increasing public and congressional disillusionment with the war? And, what does the President need to say at the State of the Union this week to reclaim the agenda? We will analyze all that and more with former House Speaker Gingrich.

Our FOX News Sunday panel will then analyze the impact of this week's Iraq debate and look ahead to next week's State of the Union. We will be joined by our panel regulars: FOX News Washington Managing Editor Brit Hume, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol, NPR Senior National Correspondent Juan Williams and NPR National Political Correspondent Mara Liasson.

Finally, we will have a special FOX News Sunday power player this week. We will remember the life of humor columnist and Washington legend, Art Buchwald, who died this week at the age of 81.

10:30 (ET) CBS – FACE THE NATION w/Bob Schieffer

PLUS, IS AL GORE ABOUT TO MAKE A POLITICAL COMEBACK?

11:30 (ET) ABC – THIS WEEK w/George Stephanopoulos

Guests:

· Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan.

· Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M.

· Jan Crawford Greenburg, ABC News Legal Correspondent

It's Never Too Early: Our exclusive headliners this Sunday are two presidential hopefuls: Republican Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico. On the day after he officially kicks off his campaign in Kansas, Brownback comes to "This Week" for his first interview as a presidential candidate. His opposition to more troops for Iraq puts him at odds with President Bush, John McCain and the other major GOP candidates: What will it mean for Brownback's campaign? And what kind of "compassionate conservative" would he be? We'll get his response.

Then, I go on the trail with Richardson. Will he run? How can he combat the star power of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton?

Next, a "This Week" classic roundtable with ABC News' Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts and George Will joining me to debate the week's politics.

Finally, ABC News legal correspondent Jan Crawford Greenburg discusses the startling revelations in her new book about the fight for control of the nation's highest court, and takes us behind the scenes at the White House during the Harriet Miers debacle.

3. No, not new, but
I grabbed these off a local (Norfolk,Va area) blog. In the case of Sunday AM talk shows, you may have to check your local affliates. Matthews is on our local ABC affiliate Sunday mornings. You may not even get his show where you are.

Sorry for the confusion :hi:
