A Message from Ellen R. Malcolm...
I am one of the millions of women who have waited all their lives to see the first woman sworn in as president of the United States — and now we have our best opportunity to see that dream fulfilled.

On the national stage and in the neighborhoods of New York, Sen. Hillary Clinton has repeatedly put her expertise and power behind solutions that make the lives of the American people safer and more prosperous. No one is more qualified to bring to the White House the kind of principled and effective leadership our nation so desperately needs.

It is with tremendous excitement and pride that EMILY’s List endorses Sen. Hillary Clinton for president.

As Sen. Clinton begins her historic journey, EMILY’s List will be with her every step of the way — raising early money from our grassroots donor network of tens of thousands of EMILY’s List members, using our vast political resources to help her build a strong national campaign, and mobilizing millions of women voters through our groundbreaking WOMEN VOTE! program to support her and every Democrat on the ticket in 2008. 1. Are you really surprised ?
As far as I understand shes the only pro choice woman in the presidential field and those are the candidates that EMILY"S list supports

2. Don't get me started on "Emily's List"
If your candidate isn't female- say its a prochoice male running against an antichoice male- they won't respond to emails, phone calls, or letters.

6. They all have different purposes and missions
NARAL does endorse male candidates. Emily's list only helps prochoice female candidates get elected and they fundraise for them.

Honestly, I thought I would be glad to see this day come, when we actually have a viable female presidential candidate. But at this point I am much more concerned about winning back the presidency than electing a woman.

4. Isn't it kind of early for organizations to be making
endorsements of candidates?

I mean, nobody's even started running commercials yet, for phuck's sake!

5. LOL
apparently not. I would consider voting for her in the general election. I will not vote for any candidate that voted "yes" on the war in the primary, but if she is nominated I will watch what she says on foreign policy and decide whether or not to support her. I have the feeling that the Clinton's have a lot of allies at the top of some of these liberal organizations and she will get a lot of endorsements right off the top.

7. So true on early endorsements and political allys.
Hillary really needs to choke the money out of Edwards and Obama before the campaign season gets into full swing. She needs to pile up endorsements now.
She's already fully saturated as far as name recognition goes; everyone has heard of her, and most voters feel they know her. So when a pollster calls, voters are already decided where they stand on Hillary. She has to knock off opponents before they do become recognizable, because unknowns have no where to go but up as their message gets out.

The guys in the race, even Obama and Edwards, are relative unknowns compared to Hillary Clinton. Deny them the money and the opportunity to get people to consider them. Because a lot of people are really just hoping for someone that they'll fall in love with, and if they haven't fallen in love with Clinton already, they are unlikely to.

8. My reply to Emily's List e-mail announcing their support of Hillary:

I will not support Hillary in the primary. It takes more than boobs and ovaries to make a great president--and given the mess the Bushies have created I care less about the anatomy of the person occupying the office than I do about the policies and values the individual will bring to the office.

I will be supporting John Edwards, unless Gore gets in the race.

Hillary is a huge warmonger, but at least she's a woman. Let's vote for her.

:sarcasm:
