Has anyone here seen Lord of War? Really good and political! |
|
I was surprised at how good this movie is because I didn't hear much about it when it was released to theaters. I did want to go see it, but very rarely make it to the theater.
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

I am sure so much of it happened. I'm sure it's continuing to happen every day.

7. Did you check out the extras disc? |
|
A large chunk of the script was somewhat loosely based on a real Ukranian-born arms dealer who smuggled weapons from cash-strapped Ukranian military bases to violent rebel factions in Liberia via Sierra Leone in violation of a UN arms embargo. He was arrested by Italian police, but got off scot free on a legal technicality.
That said, Lord of War is one hell of a movie. That opening sequence - the life cycle of a Soviet 7.62x39mm bullet - is especially jarring.

9. It is violent (and not for kids), but not just for the sake of violence. |
|
IMHO, it is necessary to tell the story, but everyone should be warned that it is violent.

4. I recommend it for this reason: |
|
Not that it's great as far as movies go, but it helps people see what we call political strife in some countries for what it really is - nothing more than a few people getting rich from the continued selling and recycling of weapons.

And the part at the end where we find out some of the other people involved, I thought was excellent to show just who is REALLY behind guns, dictators, and war in many cases.
